Top 20 Favorite TV Side-Kicks
Inspired by the passing of the Great Ed McMahon (see where he lands on my list) I put together my Top 20 Favorite TV Sidekicks! Only 3 ladies cracked the list, along with a cartoon character and a talking cat! See WHO made THE LIST:
#20. Tattoo (Herve Villechaize), sidekick of Mr. Roarke on Fantasy Island. Good Sidekick Reason: I'll always know when a plane is coming!
#19. Wilson. W. Wilson, Jr. (Earl Hindman), sidekick of Tim Taylor on Home Improvement. Good Sidekick Reason: Mysterious & Intriguing and is willing to give advice!
#18. Barney Rubble, sidekick of Fred Flinstone on the Flinstones. Good Sidekick Reason: Always there for a friend. Killer laugh, and likes to bowl.
#17. Vinnie Delpino (Max Casella), sidekick of Doogie Hoswer on Doogie Howser, M.D. Good Sidekick Reason: Made Doogie talk about teenage boy things instead of medical trauma.
#16. Mona Robinson (Katherine Heymond), sidekick of Angela Bower on Who's the Boss? A wildly flirtatous and over the top Mom gave such a great contrast to rigid Angela.
#15. Samuel "Screech" Powers (Dustin Diamond), sidekick of Zack Morris on Saved by the Bell. Good Sidekick Reason: He's annoying, yet loveable and willing to go along with Zack's schemes.
#14. Ando Masahashi (James Lee), sidekick of Hiro Nakaura on Heroes. Good Sidekick Reason: When your friend tells you he has superpowers and you decide to save the world with him, now that's a friend.
#13. Salem Saberhagen (Nick Bakay), sidekick of Sabrina Spellman on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Good Sidekick Reason: Sure he's a cat because he tried to use his magic to take over the world, but he'll help you out for a good rub behind the ears.
#12. Gilligan (Bob Denver), sidekick of the Skipper on Gilligan's Island. Good Sidekick Reason: Purely loveable with his ditziness, clumsiness and island antics.
#11. Sheldon Cooper, sidekick of Leonard Hafstadter on the Big Bang Theory. Good Sidekick Reason: Socially awkward, so what? Right?
#10. George Costanza (Jason Alexander), sidekick of Jerry Seinfeld on Seinfeld. Good Sidekick Reason: Neurotic, fun and can keep me entertain even if we ARE talking about nothing.
#9. George O'Malley (T.R. Knight), sidekick of Izzy & Meredith on Grey's Anatomy. Good Sidekick Reason: Compassionate and a good listener, makes him the ultimate male best friend, until that is you sleep with him and things get awkward.
#8. Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy), sidekick of Lorelei Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. Good Sidekick Reason: She's quirky and often the voice of reason, and can cook amazing meals at the drop of a hat.
#7. Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris), sidekick of Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother. Good Sidekick Reason: He'll snap you out of a bad mood with a magic trick, a slimey story, bro-code rule, catchphrase, laser tag. . .
#6. Balki Bartokomous (Bronson Pinchot), sidekick of Larry Appleton on Perfect Strangers. Good Sidekick Reason: New to America, he gives you an exciting look on things you've overlooked forever.
#5. Ed McMahon, sidekick of Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show. Good Sidekick Reason: Too many to list, really...
#4. Tim Gunn, sidekick of Heidi Klum on Project Runway. Good Sidekick Reason: Always there to help you pick out an outfit and encouraging words, "Make it Work!"

#2. Paul Pfeiffer (Josh Saviano), sidekick of Kevin Arnold on the Wonder Years. Good Sidekick Reason: He'll put up with all the talk about Winnie Cooper, and can rock the glasses.
#1. Hugo "Hurley" Reyes (Jorge Garcia), sidekick to pretty much all of the survivors of Oceanic 815 on Lost. Good Sidekick Reason: I think it's the sheer volume of sidekick-ness that lands him as the top spot on my list. He rolls with the big guns like Jack and Sawyer, have some fun times with Miles and Jin and if we ever got in trouble with a man-eating polar bear on the island, I could at least out run him to safety.
