The X-Factor, Dual Night Premiere
The X-Factor, It Doesn't Have 'It'
I was excited at the prospect of having Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul back on my screen together again, judging hopeful singers, in what they were boasting as "better than American Idol"… BUT, I've made a decision: I'm not going to watch the X-Factor.
For me, it's not really the show itself; it's more the time commitment necessary. For me, 2 hours a week during the Fall TV schedule is just too much of a time to dedicate to one show. Especially when I think Fall TV has such a plethora of amazing scripted shows. Sure I can take 2 hours of Bachelor Pad or 3 hours of Big Brother during the summer, no problem. I can even take 2 hours of Bachelorette or American Idol during the spring… but I'm just not willing to give up that much time during the Fall… I'm sorry Dancing with the Stars, The Biggest Loser and now, The X-Factor.
Especially on a Wednesday-Thursday night during the Fall. I mean, hello! Wednesday's I'm dedicated to Survivor (that I've been watching for 11 years!) and most of ABC's comedy line up (Modern Family) and even my back-up of America's Next Top Model. Then we have Thursdays! With CBS's line-up of The Big Bang Theory and my interest in Person of Interest (yet to watch premiere though), ABC's Grey's Anatomy, NBC's Community PLUS the CW's Vampire Diaries (and possibly The Secret Circle) and I'm tapped out.
Because this week was the big Fall Premiere week on most network channels, I must admit that I haven't actually watched much of the X-Factor dual night premiere. I have it DVR'd and plan to watch it this weekend to make sure I'm not making a terrible mistake in writing it off altogether, but I just don't see it overtaking the shows I've listed above. (AND just to note, I did watch several snippets of the show via well-placed commercial buffering… and it was just "eh" for me, so I'm not writing it off completely blind.)
What do you think about the X-Factor?! Or other reality programming that require 2 hours during Fall TV?! For it or against it?!
