The Bachelorette Ashley, Episode 2
The Bachelorette Ashley (Mondays @ 8PM on ABC)
I think it's an understatement to say that the Bachelorette had a rough week. I want to get Bentley out of the way right now, so that I don't have to talk about him the entire rest of the post. That's how much of a tool-bag I think he is.
Bentley has been telling us all along that he's not into Ashley at all. He doesn't find her that attractive, has no desire to form an actual relationship with her and the only reason he hadn't left the show yet is because he's very competitive and wants to show how suave he can be in racking up the roses.
Well in this episode, Ashley confronts him about Michelle Money warning her about his ill-intentions for the show. He's able to convince her it's not true, but when he doesn't get the Group Date Rose, he starts to sulk. He decides the next day that it's no longer fun and needs to give Ashley the big dumping.
It's pretty clear to me he's doing all of this for show. I'm guessing he thought it might take longer to whoo Ashley into making him the front-runner (think Frank or Wes) and was actually glad that it happened sooner rather than later.
Ashley's going to be on Jimmy Kimmel tonight and I'm sure this is going to be the main topic. I'm totally going to watch. Bentley had everyone but us and the camera guys fooled with this little scam and I want to see how mad Ashley is that she cried so much over such a big douche.
You gotta love Chris Harrison's final conversation with Ashley too before the Rose Ceremony... He clearly knew what Bentley has been saying behind closed doors and tried to stir Ashley into realizing that Bentley wasn't being truthful in basically anything he's told her and that maybe the warning came true.
Okay, I spent wayyyyy too much time on Douche-Bag-Bentley. Let's get to what else happened on last night's episode.
Like her first One-On-One Date that went to Ben C. He told her that the next time there was a dancing-date, he wanted in on it. Well he got his wish. She taught him the moves, then they headed to have a picnic in a public place. She gets him to start doing the dance in front of everyone, the music starts blaring on the loud speaker and almost all of the "watchers" joined them for a Flash Mob.
I, for one, thought Ben C. was a good sport about the whole thing. They have dinner next, where he tells her that he wants to live in "an unrealistic, idealistic (love) bubble" and she totally falls for it and gives him the Date Rose. I don't see them together, but that's just me.
So most of the other guys find out they're going on the Super Group Date and Masked-Jeff decides he needs to take the mask off ASAP. So when Ashley arrives to get the guys, he carts her away, gives her a long speech about why he wore the mask (for the millionth time), and finally... takes... off... the... mask.
I was really hoping for a scar or a unibrow or some unearthly handsome man underneath. I didn't get any of that, and neither did Ashley. She saw a much older looking guy than she realized he was with the mask on. EPIC FAIL.
So the Super Group head off to L.A.'s Comedy Store where they meet Jeffery Ross and learn they must put on a Roast of the Bachelorette in front of a live crowd.
Must guys were not too excited about having to try and make fun of the girl they are trying to date, but William saw it as a grand opportunity to show off how funny he is.
RED FLAG - William was so hell-bent on really bringing the funny and hoping for a possible career change via this challenge that I knew it was going to go horribly wrong before it did.
Most of the guys got up on stage and either bombed or made fun of the other guys. There were a few jokes about Ashley being flat-chested, but she seemed totally cool with those. I'm surprised there weren't more dentist jokes.
But... William took the cake. He went for the jugular. He straight up said he signed up for the show to be with either Emily or Chantal and ended up with Ashley. OUCH.
It was one of Ashley's biggest fears going into the show, that the guys would be expecting someone else and not be there for her. If any of the guys actually read the spoiler blogs last year, they would have guessed the Bachelorette would be Emily. All the spoiler sites had Chantal getting the ring in the end up til the last week of the show.
Ashley broke down, and the only one to notice was Bentley. Really?! I had to bring him up one more time.
At the after-party, Ashley told them her biggest fear was just brought to light and she was clearly upset about it.
William was the first to talk to her and instead of trying to console her, he dismissed himself from the party. The rest of the guys try and console her, but only Ryan (and the one that no longer will be named) even come close to taking her mind off it. She ends up giving the Super Group Date Rose to Positive-Ryan.
The last One-on-One Date goes to J.P. and he's excited to finally be getting a date. But the poor guy gets the depressed and "heartbroken" Ashley on a 'at home date'. She's seems to be sincerely questioning if things will work for her now that the tool-bag is gone, considering she already saw herself with him at the end. Luckily J.P. was a good sport and tried to console and keep her mind off it. They jump into some p.j.s and have a snuggle by the fire. At the end, Ashley tells us J.P's kisses were better than Bentley's (maybe because he was actually kissing her back...hmmm)
Then we got the Chris Harrison talk that a mentioned earlier, but it was clear that Ashley wasn't up for a Cocktail Party, even though that sparkling mini-dress would have convinced me otherwise.
Harrison tells the guys they're heading straight for the Rose Ceremony because of the bad week Ashley's had. She comes out and reiterates that. Then it's down to the roses.
So we have Ben C., Ryan and J.P. all standing pretty with their Date Roses. Then she hands Constantine, West, Mickey, Ben F., Blake, Nick, Ames and Lucas roses. That means it's down to William, Chris and Non-masked-Jeff for the finally rose. It goes to...
William.
So William gets a second chance with Ashley, while Chris and Jeff get the boot. Jeff burns his mask, while I'm sure he was wondering if he kept it on longer if he'd get past more rounds on sheer mystery (gotta love his phantom of the opera background music!) and Chris wondering... well, I'm wondering who the heck that Chris guy was.
Anywho. I'm still addicted, and we'll see where Ashley ends up on this crazy love journey... til next week Rose-Watchers.
