TeeVee: Glee (Post Super Bowl Episode)

Glee (Tuesdays at 8PM on FOX)

Glee came back with a super-sized episode directly following the Super Bowl last night...

Here's all the stuff you need to know about the Super Bowl - The Green Bay Packers won! The Steelers lost. Lea Michele sounded beautiful during the pre-game. Christina Aguilera messed up the lyrics to the National Anthem. AND The Black Eyed Peas sounded less than stellar during the Half-time show. The Doritos commerical with the pug was my favorite of the night.

But let's get to the highlights of the Glee episode, shall we?

Cheerios do a blue-wigging, flaming hula-hoops, breast sparking, BMX-tricking routine to Katy Perry's "California Gurls"... one they're hoping to do at Nationals. But Sue's not impressed.

Even making the girls slap each other and themselves with chicken cutlet breast enhancers didn't make her chuckle. So she sets off to try and find a way to out-do herself. A misspelled self-portrait tattoo later... Sue finds her solution. A human cannon-ball launcher with a 30 percent success rate.

Meanwhile, the football team is one game away from their first trip ever to a Championship game. But Karofsky is still battling with Finn. And it comes to blows in the locker-room with Karofsky saying he doesn't have Finn's back because he's in Glee Club.

Coach Bieste and Will talk about how they can fix things between New Directions and the Glee Club, but as they discuss the football'rs slushie Artie.

As Finn, Sam and Puck get ready to hunt down the rest of the football team to fight back, but they're greeted in the choir room by the football'rs followed by Coach Bieste and Mr. Shue who tell them the football'rs must join Glee for one week.

Rachel and Puck do a duet of Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" to try and convince the football'rs that it's cool to be in Glee Club, but it backfires when Amizio mocks Puck.

Back to Sue - She shows the Cheerios, and particularly Brittany the new human cannon-launcher and tries to get Brittany to get in it.

"I don't want to die yet... at least not until 'One Tree Hill' gets canceled."

Sue tries to convince everyone it's safe by loading a dummy into it, but it backfires because the dummy explodes into pieces. Quinn says she'll talk to Mr. Shue about it, and the next thing we see is Mr. Shue and Principal Figgins telling Sue she can't shot a kid out of a cannon without consent. This puts Sue in a destructive tirade with a lot of property thrashing and ends in Sue changing the day of the National Competition to the night of the football championship game, thus taking away the cheerleaders and half-time show.

This, of course means that the Glee Club will fill in for the half-time show. It doesn't go over well with the new football'r additions or the cheerleaders (they'll have to choose - Glee or Cheerios). Will tells them they'll be doing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" mashed up with the Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Heads Will Roll".

After some rehearsal and a pep talk from Mr. Shue, it looked like Karofsky was going to have a change of heart. He even suggests to Finn they do a warm-up number.

Cue the boys singing a zombie version of The Zombies' "She's Not There"

But shortly after, the football'rs meet up with the mullet-wearing ice hockey team and get slushied for being the newest members of Glee Club. This is humiliates Karofsky and he decides to quit glee. Coach Bieste tells him that means he can't play in the football game either, but the threat doesn't work... all the football'rs quit. And another blow, Quinn, Santana and Brittany all opt *get blackmailed) to choose the Cheerios over Glee.

BREAK - Over at Dalton Academy - Kurt, Blaine and the rest of the boys are in their own world preparing for regionals by dancing and singing Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills"... This was just odd to me.

But it set up Mercedes and Rachel getting coffee with Blaine and Kurt and filling them in on what's going on. Blaine offers up advice - they only need 9 players to play - and the glee girls come up with a plan:

They'll (Rachel, Tina, Mercedes and Lauren) strap on the pads so the boys can play in the championship game.

The game starts and the girls lay down each play (except Lauren). This, of course, isn't the best strategy and the team is trailing before half-time. Finn comes up with a plan... Sam's QB, Puck has to convince the guys to perform the half-time show and he's going to get the Cheerios.

Finn pleads to Quinn, and convinces them all that they need to quit Cheerios, come back to New Directions and perform in the half-time show. Meanwhile, Puck convinces all the guys (minus Karofsky) they need to perform/play.

They start up with Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Heads Will Roll" into roll into Michael Jackson's "Thriller" which has the crowd going wild. It even motivates Karofsky to join in.

After the performance, all the guys were ready to win the game back, and Coach Bieste convinces them to leave the zombie make-up on.

The guys go back out and start racking up points. It's down to the last 21 seconds, they're down by 3 and the other team has the ball. They need a miracle. They start chanting "brains" and the other team fumbles to ball, the Titans recover it and score a touchdown to win the game! (Any football fan would be boo'ng this part. The other team would have "knee'd" and won the game, they wouldn't have even snapped the ball (at least not shotgun style)... but Glee isn't really based in reality most of the time, so I digress.)

So while the football team won, Sue and the Cheerios lost. Katie Couric made a cameo to tell Sue she's now the "Loser of the Year" and that her Cheerio budget will now go to the Glee Club.

Thinking that everything would be better now, Finn tells Karofsky that they can go and apologize to Kurt and he can be a member of New Directions. Karofsky rebuffs him, citing that he's now back on top because of the win, and that nothing will/has changed.

Finn's relationships are definitely changing. Finn and Puck are on better terms; he found out Rachel did the duet to make him jealous; but most interestingly...

Quinn thanks Finn for everything he's done this week and kisses him! SURPRISE! What that means... we'll find out.
