Bachelor Pad 2 8/29/11
Bachelor Pad, Kisses & Crying
So remember the big build up from last week when the Bachelor Pad-producers cut to black after Kasey's name was announced as safe and Jake threatening to take down his opponents before he leaves? Well, the build-up was for nothing…
Kasey cockily strutted over and nabbed his rose from Michelle, then walked over and planted a kiss on his beloved Vienna. When Harrison told Jake to "take a few moments and say your good-byes", Jake turned to the crowd and told them they needed to take down the power couples in order to have a chance at winning, then said "Kasey, amazing meeting you" and then "Vienna, my apologies – in my heart, you're forgiven"
I'm sorry, but I hate Jake. Not that I like Viensey either, but at least I feel like they have an inkling of how ridiculous they are. I don't think Jake has a clue as to how fake he comes off. I hated him during his stint on Ali's season enough for him to be the only Bachelor in the history of the franchise that I did NOT watch one single episode of "his journey" and I'd totally be cool with never seeing him on my television screen ever again. I'm just saying…
While I become unlikely thought-bubble buddies with Erica (she said "Kasey and Vienna are just sitting there with ugly little expressions on their ugly little faces, thinking that they run shit around here..."), but the sad thing is… they kind of are.
They've got their final 8 couples figured out: Viensey, Michael & Holly, Graham & Micelle and Kirk & Ella.
ROSE COMPETITION
It's the Bachelor Pad kissing contest! Yay! Boo! The only two that seemed super-psyched were Blake and Melissa. Kasey didn't want to piss off Vienna, Vienna didn't want to think about kissing any of the other guys and Michelle bowed out to be a good example for her daughter…
The girls get blindfolded and kissed first. The first girl up was Holly, and all the guys except Blake give her respectful pecks because of Michael. And again, there was a round of pecks for Vienna as well. For the most part, the guys kisses were pretty tame for all the ladies, except for Blake that went for it no matter who he was standing in front of (minus Vienna).
The guys got blindfolded and kissed next. The girls were much more into the actual contest (minus Vienna) and sucked face with each guy. This actually kind of grossed me out to watch to be honest (and I'm no prude). Especially when paired with voice-overs of Erica talking about her injections and Ella was talking about her strategy of sucking and pulling away. And Holly shows us she not going to hold back when she kisses Michael and Blake passionately.
But at least we learned something: Kasey has really bad breath. Maybe that's why he talks the way he does?
Harrison comes in to read the votes and says it was a landslide in both cases…
BLAKE & ELLA WIN SAFETY ROSES!
They get to chose 1 person for a romantic date and will have the opportunity to give that person a safety rose as well (if they chose). Ella gets her date first and chooses her partner Kirk. They jet off in a red Ferrari, bond over dinner and then take a hot-air balloon ride in which they share a kiss, and he gets the safety rose.
Meanwhile back at the house, Melissa is super excited because she assumes that because her partner and fantasy-boyfriend, Blake, won the challenge she gets to go on the date (and get the safety rose). Only thing is… Blake thinks Melissa is crazy and he wants to try and canoodle with Holly, but knows it will make Melissa blow-up.
But when his date card arrives, he chooses Holly over Melissa. Even Erica's a little bit upset, because apparently her massage didn't work on him (luckily I didn't have to witness this massage, the show was interrupted for a thunderstorm warning). Holly says yes, and Melissa flies off the handle. Blake tries to apologizes, but Melissa storms off. She tells Michael that Holly doesn't care about him and is going to leave him to partner with Blake. Then she storms off around the house to confront Blake. She finds the dentist brushing his teeth and he puts her on hold for 40 seconds. By the time they come back though, I've already tuned out Melissa's crazy-whining.
Blake & Holly get to go skiing/snowboarding together, which wasn't the top of Holly's list, but she laughs through most of the day. They sit down for Bailey's-laced cocoa (just a guess) near the fire, where Blake finally brings up her ex-fiance, Michael. But his questions go mostly unanswered, mostly because Holly has no idea what she wants. Blake offers for them to stay the night, and Holly accepts. She also accepts the safety rose. Blake uses a similar line he used on Melissa "I can tell a lot about a person by the way they kiss" to get a kiss out of Holly "You said you thought you should have won the kissing challenge, I think I should re-evaluate" … (PUKE! Would that work on any of you ladies out there? Because it wouldn't work on me.)
Meanwhile back at the house, Michael is stewing awaiting Holly's return. He realizes that he loves her and wants to be with her. To watch him being comforted by the other dudes by the fireplace when he realized that they (Blake & Holly) weren't coming home that night was heartbreaking as he calls Holly "irreplaceable".
When Holly gets back, Michael professes his love to her and Holly can't really say anything back. When he asks if anything happened last night, she truthfully tells him that she kissed Blake, and his heart-breaks all over again. She tries to justify it with "we weren't back together" and "you broke up with me", but Michael seems to have the gut-feeling that Holly might not have the same feelings he has for her.
COCKTAIL PARTY
While Michael & Holly have a front-yard picnic, while the rest scramble to determine who should go home this week. It looks like the guys' minds are made up: they've had enough of crazy-Melissa. But there was still a debate on whether to eliminate "Power-Couple Ring-Leader" Kasey, or "He's on the Show?" William. Kasey comes up with a plan to tell everyone that he needs the money in order for his grandma to live. (Really?! Really?!) But, I guess that's a better strategy than William's… And it's much better than crazy-Melissa's strategy after she hears that some of the guys have voted her out. She scrambles, begs, pleads and cries to anyone that will listen… it does no good.
ROSE CEREMONY
They line up in the driveway and Melissa & William are quickly given the boot. Melissa is hysterically crying and cannot speak and even William sheds a few tears while Michelle is the one that gives us the sound bite for both. Melissa wasn't strong enough for this game and William was a great guy that didn't deserve to go home. Thanks Michelle…
Til next week Rose Lovers… Oh, and the new cast of DWTS was announced last night. (But I don't care enough to post it… it's one of the few reality shows I boycott.)
