Bachelor Pad 2 8/29/11

Bachelor Pad, Kisses & Crying

So remember the big build up from last week when the Bachelor Pad-producers cut to black after Kasey's name was announced as safe and Jake threatening to take down his opponents before he leaves? Well, the build-up was for nothing…

Kasey cockily strutted over and nabbed his rose from Michelle, then walked over and planted a kiss on his beloved Vienna. When Harrison told Jake to "take a few moments and say your good-byes", Jake turned to the crowd and told them they needed to take down the power couples in order to have a chance at winning, then said "Kasey, amazing meeting you" and then "Vienna, my apologies – in my heart, you're forgiven"

I'm sorry, but I hate Jake. Not that I like Viensey either, but at least I feel like they have an inkling of how ridiculous they are. I don't think Jake has a clue as to how fake he comes off. I hated him during his stint on Ali's season enough for him to be the only Bachelor in the history of the franchise that I did NOT watch one single episode of "his journey" and I'd totally be cool with never seeing him on my television screen ever again. I'm just saying…

While I become unlikely thought-bubble buddies with Erica (she said "Kasey and Vienna are just sitting there with ugly little expressions on their ugly little faces, thinking that they run shit around here..."), but the sad thing is… they kind of are.

They've got their final 8 couples figured out: Viensey, Michael & Holly, Graham & Micelle and Kirk & Ella.

ROSE COMPETITION

It's the Bachelor Pad kissing contest! Yay! Boo! The only two that seemed super-psyched were Blake and Melissa. Kasey didn't want to piss off Vienna, Vienna didn't want to think about kissing any of the other guys and Michelle bowed out to be a good example for her daughter…

The girls get blindfolded and kissed first. The first girl up was Holly, and all the guys except Blake give her respectful pecks because of Michael. And again, there was a round of pecks for Vienna as well. For the most part, the guys kisses were pretty tame for all the ladies, except for Blake that went for it no matter who he was standing in front of (minus Vienna).

The guys got blindfolded and kissed next. The girls were much more into the actual contest (minus Vienna) and sucked face with each guy. This actually kind of grossed me out to watch to be honest (and I'm no prude). Especially when paired with voice-overs of Erica talking about her injections and Ella was talking about her strategy of sucking and pulling away. And Holly shows us she not going to hold back when she kisses Michael and Blake passionately.

But at least we learned something: Kasey has really bad breath. Maybe that's why he talks the way he does?

Harrison comes in to read the votes and says it was a landslide in both cases…

BLAKE & ELLA WIN SAFETY ROSES!

They get to chose 1 person for a romantic date and will have the opportunity to give that person a safety rose as well (if they chose). Ella gets her date first and chooses her partner Kirk. They jet off in a red Ferrari, bond over dinner and then take a hot-air balloon ride in which they share a kiss, and he gets the safety rose.

Meanwhile back at the house, Melissa is super excited because she assumes that because her partner and fantasy-boyfriend, Blake, won the challenge she gets to go on the date (and get the safety rose). Only thing is… Blake thinks Melissa is crazy and he wants to try and canoodle with Holly, but knows it will make Melissa blow-up.

But when his date card arrives, he chooses Holly over Melissa. Even Erica's a little bit upset, because apparently her massage didn't work on him (luckily I didn't have to witness this massage, the show was interrupted for a thunderstorm warning). Holly says yes, and Melissa flies off the handle. Blake tries to apologizes, but Melissa storms off. She tells Michael that Holly doesn't care about him and is going to leave him to partner with Blake. Then she storms off around the house to confront Blake. She finds the dentist brushing his teeth and he puts her on hold for 40 seconds. By the time they come back though, I've already tuned out Melissa's crazy-whining.

Blake & Holly get to go skiing/snowboarding together, which wasn't the top of Holly's list, but she laughs through most of the day. They sit down for Bailey's-laced cocoa (just a guess) near the fire, where Blake finally brings up her ex-fiance, Michael. But his questions go mostly unanswered, mostly because Holly has no idea what she wants. Blake offers for them to stay the night, and Holly accepts. She also accepts the safety rose. Blake uses a similar line he used on Melissa "I can tell a lot about a person by the way they kiss" to get a kiss out of Holly "You said you thought you should have won the kissing challenge, I think I should re-evaluate" … (PUKE! Would that work on any of you ladies out there? Because it wouldn't work on me.)

Meanwhile back at the house, Michael is stewing awaiting Holly's return. He realizes that he loves her and wants to be with her. To watch him being comforted by the other dudes by the fireplace when he realized that they (Blake & Holly) weren't coming home that night was heartbreaking as he calls Holly "irreplaceable".

When Holly gets back, Michael professes his love to her and Holly can't really say anything back. When he asks if anything happened last night, she truthfully tells him that she kissed Blake, and his heart-breaks all over again. She tries to justify it with "we weren't back together" and "you broke up with me", but Michael seems to have the gut-feeling that Holly might not have the same feelings he has for her.

COCKTAIL PARTY

While Michael & Holly have a front-yard picnic, while the rest scramble to determine who should go home this week. It looks like the guys' minds are made up: they've had enough of crazy-Melissa. But there was still a debate on whether to eliminate "Power-Couple Ring-Leader" Kasey, or "He's on the Show?" William. Kasey comes up with a plan to tell everyone that he needs the money in order for his grandma to live. (Really?! Really?!) But, I guess that's a better strategy than William's… And it's much better than crazy-Melissa's strategy after she hears that some of the guys have voted her out. She scrambles, begs, pleads and cries to anyone that will listen… it does no good.

ROSE CEREMONY

They line up in the driveway and Melissa & William are quickly given the boot. Melissa is hysterically crying and cannot speak and even William sheds a few tears while Michelle is the one that gives us the sound bite for both. Melissa wasn't strong enough for this game and William was a great guy that didn't deserve to go home. Thanks Michelle…

Til next week Rose Lovers… Oh, and the new cast of DWTS was announced last night. (But I don't care enough to post it… it's one of the few reality shows I boycott.)

Bachelor Pad 8/15/11

Bachelor Pad – Delusions of Grandeur and Grand Exits

We catch up with the rose-hungry as they get their next competition – Target on Your Back. The guys line up in their white swim trunks with targets painted on their backs and blindfolds on. The girls come out one at a time, answer Harrison's question by throwing a paint-filled egg at one of the guys. If they hit their intended target, they get a point. The girl with the most points after 3 questions wins a rose. Then the tables are turned on the girls line up in their white string bikinis for the guys to do the same thing.

Question 1: Who are you the least attracted to?

The girls all go for different targets, but the only ones that get a hit are Erica (William), Jackie (Stagliano), Gia (Casey) and Melissa (William)

I forgot the second question…

Question 3: Who do you want to go home this week?

Pretty much all the girls go after Jake (Michelle, Holly, Jackie, Melissa and Vienna all get a hit)

But this means there must be a tie-breaker question between Jackie & Melissa.

Tie-Breaker: Who is the dumbest?

Jackie goes for William but misses but Melissa pegs Graham.

MELISSA GETS A SAFETY ROSE!

The guy's get their revenge…

Question 1: Who is most likely to cheat on you if dating?

Jake obviously goes after Vienna, hitting her and citing she cheated on him with 3 guys.

Question 2: Who do you want to go home this week?

Most of the guys go after Erica… But besides that, the poor girl had to get hit basically by every guy on this question…

Question 3: Who do you find the least attractive?

Stagliano was the harshest as he was the last to go and needing this hit for the win. He winds up and pitches the egg at Erica's back. OUCH.

STAGLIANO WINS A SAFETY ROSE!

Erica, of course, gets upset at finding out the guys don't find her attractive. And I felt sorry for her until she starts putting Ella down, saying Ella's bigger than she is and doesn't think she's prettier than her.

Since Mike & Melissa won the roses they'll be able to pick 3 people to go on dates with. They'll have a rose up for grabs on the date and that person will also be safe.

Mike chooses Erica (because he feels bad), Michelle and ex-fiancée Holly to go on his date. They end up going to an abandoned hospital for a night-vision horror-date. Michelle got in the middle of the ex-lovers relationship telling them both that she thought there was still feelings there. Really?!

Mike gave the safety rose to Holly and had a sincere talk on the roof. It's obvious to all us viewers that Mike is still deeply in love with Holly, but that the broken engagement really cut him deep. Holly tries to offer up the "I thought of us as best friends" line, and Mike shoots it down. She, then, talks about bad timing and I think they're still on opposite ends of the time spectrum… aka Mike's ready to settle down and get married and Holly wants to party. They end in a teary hug and things still up in the air.

Melissa picks Kirk, Kasey and Blake for her date. She tries to make a deal with Kasey that she'll give him the safety rose in return for safety next week. Kasey seems to buy into it, even though he calls her expendable. The foursome charter a yacht and Melissa is taking this date as her mini-Bachelorette moment.

Meanwhile back at the house, Vienna is still pouring her heart out about how much of a jerk Jake was to her and Jake is trying to formulate a plan to stay. He comes up with the brilliant idea to ask Vienna for help. When he tries to pull her aside, she rudely rebuffs and it annoys everyone in the near vicinity.

At this point I was really hoping that one of them would go home this week, just so we could stop hearing this… I, honestly would have smacked Vienna by now and said… "Okay. We get it. Jake was mean to you. You don't want him here. We GET it."

Back to Melissa's sad, delusional date: Kasey's riding high, because he thinks he's getting the safety rose, but Blake's willing to do what he has to in order to get it instead. What that requires was a make-out session with Ms. Melissa. She gives Blake the safety rose. As Kasey and Kirk have a cuddly-romantic ride back to shore, Blake has to make-out some more and tells Melissa that it will be them, together, at the end. The whole thing was creep-tastic.

But Blake's move for the safety rose (he ended up not really needing at all) came back to haunt him. He's got a thing for Holly, but Melissa keeps popping up. Most guys dream of a threesome, but when Melissa crashes Blake-and-Holly alone time, it was awkward. Holly ends up leaving, and Melissa shows her crazy. She gets mad at him for spending time with Holly and making her look crazy, like her last bout on the Bachelor.
I feel slightly bad for Melissa here. Blake's leading her on and that's just not cool. But Melissa is the definition of "Crazy Eyes" from How I Met Your Mother. (Any fans out there know what I'm talking about?) Plus, how sleazy is it of Blake and Holly for openly flirting when everyone knows that her ex-fiancé, who still has feelings for her, is in the house too. NOT CLASSY.

It's fine that Holly wants to move on, but does she have to do it right in front of him and a bunch of cameras. Well, it might end up being a blessing in disguise for Mike. He might finally realize that Holly just doesn't love him the same way.

COCKTAIL PARTY

Jake tries to get Vienna & Kasey back on his side, but it doesn't work at all. Vienna & Kasey know they have the power in the house and blatantly ridicule Jake in front of Ella & Kirk. The whole thing made me want to gag. (Plus, do I think Jake was going to give all the prize money to charity? Hell-to-the-no.)

And then when I thought the gagging was over I literally threw up in my mouth a little bit when Kasey made his "Guard & Protect Your Heart" tattoo beat as he celebrates the destruction of his nemesis Jake.

Harrison enters to tell them the news, but before he does the tension in the house is discussed. Vienna makes the argument that the show made her and Jake do that break-up interview and doesn't think it's right to have them both on this show. Harrison combats that she's a willing participant and can leave whenever she wants too. Vienna shuts her trap.

Harrison – 1, Vienna – 0

Then, to rub some salt in Vienna's wounds, Harrison tells them that no men will be going home tonight… because 2 ladies will be going home.

Harrison – 2, Vienna – 0

Therefore, what seemed to be Viensey's (Vienna & Kasey) plan to rid themselves of Jake will have to wait another week; and Vienna has a nervous breakdown, trying to get the rest of the group to protest the "cheating".

As Michelle tries to tell Jake that there's no point of him staying, because there's no way he'll win the money (they'll vote him out as soon as they get the chance), Gia was there to give some prospective. Yes, there's voting, but there's also competitions he could win and save himself.

But then, Gia talks to Kasey about possibly getting the votes to stay again. But Gia's earlier talk with Graham about splitting up Viensey comes back out as Kasey tells her Graham ratted her out. She doesn't believe it, storms over to Graham for an explanation. He gives a half-assed excuse and Gia loses it. She decides she can't stand the backstabbing this season, packs her bags and cries in the rejecto-minivan about not giving Viensey the satisfaction of voting her out.

So then the next plan of business is to decide which other lady has to go home. And even though all the guys pegged Erica with a paint-filled egg for this question, the tides turn on Ella & Jackie. Ella tries to tell anyone that would listen that she should stay because she desperately needs the money to support her son. This goes on mostly deaf ears, except for Kirk, who really wants to win the money to pay his medical bills. In a competition, needing the money the most isn't really the best strategic play, but Kirk had some pull with the power players to have them consider it. Jackie & her new beau Ames try and discuss with Kasey, but they don't campaign nearly as hard.

The vote ends up coming down to Melissa somehow and she cries about it because Blake is still all over Holly. She wants to have her half of a Viensey (really?!) or a Jackames. Blake wants her to keep Jackie…

The vote is in and JACKIE IS ROSELESS. The girls group hug and then Ames walks her to the rejecto-limo. They exchange hugs, kisses and "I'll miss you" before she settles in. Ames goes to walk back to the group, pauses for an extended moment, smiles, waves, and jogs after the slow-crawling rejecto-limo. He raps on the door as Jackie realizes what's happening and all the rest of the girls swoon. He jumps in and the kiss. AWE.

Ames said he's never fallen in love with someone the way he has with Jackie. Michelle says they're off to make babies. Jackames think they've won Bachelor Pad. And even though it was super corny, but in a great cheesy romantic comedy way, I wish them all the best. Go off and live happily ever after you two!

UPDATE - According to ew.com, the awe-worthy couple Jackames is already split. The had a good run of a couple of weeks, but it seems like Ames wasn't feeling it and dumped poor Jackie. Ah, fickle love.
