Nip/Tuck, Tell me what you don't like about yourself.
I had planned on dedicating this post to tonights episode of Cashmere Mafia, but that will come tomorrow night.
Instead, I'm going to talk about Nip/Tuck (airing Mondays @ 10.30pm on Channel 9). First off, shame on channel 9 airing season 3 even though this season has been out on DVD for nearly 6 months now! I can only assume that most fans would have gone out and bought it after channel 9 took it off the air mid-season.
Moving on.
While season 3 was not too bad, the carver storyline was interesting but predictable to say the least, fans should take note that season 4 improves slightly but will still leave fan wanting more. Most who have seen the series have said that season 4 is very dark, depressing and quite heavy on the emotion, and I'd generally have to agree. Which is why I am so glad that season 5 is a wonderful return to form.
I know, i know. I'm jumping the gun here, but I have literally just finished watching the season 5 finale and I need to talk about the season, and now I'm wanting more....but in the best way possible. Without spoiling anything for anyone, season 5 is a powerhouse of a season, that does have some dark moments, but in general, is one of the most entertaining seasons since McNamara and Troy were first introduced to us.
Along with McMahon and Walsh, Joely Richardson returns as Julia McNamara, Roma Mafia returns as Nurse Linda as does Kelly Carlson as Kimber Henry and Jessalyn Gilsig makes a welcomed return as Christians former psychotic girlfriend Gina.
What also helps boost season 5 is it's guest list of actors who come in and totter about for awhile. Rosie O'Donnell reprises her role as Dawn Budge and Portia Di Rossi signs on in a recurring role as Olivia. Other notable appearances include Lauren Hutton, former Melrose Place resident Daphne Zuniga, Paula Marshal, Oliver Platt and Bradley Cooper, but the one standout guest for the season has to be former Cagney and Lacey star and Queer as Folk actor Sharon Gless as Colleen, a talent rep in Las Angeles.
Her character and storyline truly are the standout of the series and it seems as though she might stick around for season 6.
My advice, stick out the rest of season 3 and season 4. There are some interesting story lines going on that will keep you going, but hang on for season 5. This is where it starts to get interesting!
