Heroes: Wait while I pick my jaw up off the ground
At the start of the TV season I was really pleased to see that Heroes had picked up its game. The writers strike really affected the end of the second season of the show so it was nice to get a bit more of that edge of the seat, holy crap sort of stuff happening again. By around episode three or four though, around the time that the big bad, Adam Munroe was eliminated by Arthur Petrelli in one swift motion, the show quickly slid down into what the...? territory. But I'm glad that I kept watching, trusted the writers and went with what was happening, however much I didn't agree with it, because in the last four weeks it's really gotten good. Like, supremely good. This morning I started catching up from where I left off before my vacation on the bus. Embarrassingly, I was so engrossed that I'm sure I gasped out loud, jumped when guns were fired and nearly slid off the seat when the bus took a sharp turn.
My most favourite character, who I'll keep to myself for the sake of being a bit ahead of the Aussie broadcast, was lost in this episode, but it was different to the way Adam went. It felt like a fitting end to the character, it did this person justice. And, it's not as though I didn't see it coming; word of advice to the Heroes producers, changing a star who was previously listed with everyone else to a "special guest star" is a bad move. Viewers are smart, we know what that means.
Despite the loss of my current favourite, I'm fickle at best and will no-doubt move on as the season continues. I'd encourage anyone who has perhaps stopped watching because of the weird territory the show had drifted into to give it a go and catch-up. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
