Gossip Girl: Season 2 round up
After the short season of last year with the writer's strike, the 25 episodes of the second season seemed to go forever. We've seen the end of summer vacation with Nate having an affair with an older woman, Blair dating an English Lord only to find that Nate's older woman was Marcus' step-mother and that they were having an affair. Whew, that's confusing and that's only the first two characters and their first two relationships of the season.
But that's basically the pace that the show has gone at the whole season. We've seen bed-hopping, drama, manipulation and of course, gorgeous fashion. There's been a war declared on Gossip Girl, Chuck Bass has constantly proved himself incapable of saying he loves Blair to Blair, Jenny Humphrey elevating herself to a hot fashion designer only to come back down to earth and return home and to school like the good little girl that she is.
And next year, the majority of the cast will be going to college. The show has never been anything like the books, and the college destinations of the the crew is no different to this. In the books, Blair does end up going to Yale, Dan to Evergreen College somewhere in Seattle and Jenny gets expelled and shipped upstate to boarding school. But of course, the books end there (or in Jenny's case, go on to be a new series), and the TV show is going to follow them to college so they had to all be close together. So we'll now see Vanessa, Dan and Blair at NYU, Nate at Columbia and Serena at Brown. Not sure where or if Chuck is going to college, but in the books his parents ship him off to military school. (Which, since he's now an orphan, is not going to happen).
I realise that Gossip Girl is quite possibly the most ridiculous show on TV but I can't stop watching it and I love it. I can't wait until next season.
