Big Brother 13 Finale 9/14/11

Big Brother 13, Finale: Floaters grab a life vest vs. Floaters grab a paycheck>

After a quick recap of the season, Chenbot brought us back to last week and the first part of the final HOH competition. You know, the one where the Final 3 were spinning around in a pool of butter getting colorful goop sprayed at them.

CONCLUSION - HOH PART 1

It was Rachel's competition to lose. She's shown all season that pure endurance competitions are her strong suit. And she didn't disappoint. It was clear from the beginning that she was perfectly fine standing on the mini-ledge, spinning around in the butter. Adam and Porshe looked much less comfortable up there.

Adam started complaining about his legs and body hurting. He even started telling the other two that he wasn't going to last much longer. Then he falls off. He tells us that he knew he wasn't going to win and wanted to conserve his energy for the next rounds (yeah… that's the reason).

Porshe wanted the win, but the spinning was definitely taking a toll on her. She looked visibly ill up there and after a quick conversation with Adam (she asked if Rachel looked fine… he said yes), her confidence went down even more. She didn't want to spin around in her own puke and her body seemed to melt down the pole before she jumped in the pool of butter.

RACHEL WINS HOH - PART 1!

Rachel looked like she could have stayed up there all night, and beamed as she bounced out of butter pool. Poor Porshe didn't seem to have the strength to pull herself out; Adam had to help her.

Before we could get to Parts 2 & 3 though, we had to make a stop to the…

JURY HOUSE

The losers (Brendan, Dani, Jeff & Shelly) gave their opinions on who they thought would be joining them… unsurprisingly Brendan & Jeff said they wanted to see any combination of Porshe, Kalia or Adam, while Dani spout out Rachel.

Then Kalia walked in. She seemed to be reveling in the spotlight, but it was stolen just as she just started her eviction story when Jordan walked in…

The tide of the conversation switched to who deserved to win out of the 3 remaining houseguests.

RACHEL - Brendan, Jordan & Jeff were team Rachel citing her as the best competitor this season, that had a target on her yet no one evicted her. Dani was totally against that, calling Rachel a floater. (Um… no… she was just on the opposite side from Dani & was able to make good enough deals this year to keep herself safe.) Shelly called out Rachel's mean-spirited personality and questioned whether or not to reward that behavior. (She also had to defend her own behavior – she called it game play.)

PORSHE – Dani & Kalia were team Porshe. Kalia stated that she played when she needed too (winning the POV, HOH back-to-back) and that she stayed low the rest of the time. Jeff saw this as a floater strategy, and called out both of them (Porshe & Kalia) for playing Dani's game and not their own. Kalia got pissed at this. (Sorry, girl but you kind of did… the one time you "played your own game" you decided to save Rachel and evict Lawon which lead to Brenchel being back together for one more week --- so, good move?) Jeff (& Company) stressed the fact that Porshe didn't play from the beginning and barely talked to them at all (about strategy or otherwise).

ADAM – I actually agreed with Dani on this one. Adam is a "PIGGY-BACKER" – an ultimate floater that never made a decision for himself (It's such a good term, I wish I came up with it myself.) The one HOH he did win, it didn't really matter who he nominated, so the "decision" was easy. Everything else he left up to whoever was in power to tell him what to do. At least it seemed to me that he no chance to win against either Porshe or Rachel and that made me happy.

Then it was back to the house for the…

HOH COMPETITION – PART 2

It was Porshe vs. Adam in a timed underwater memory puzzle. I immediately thought Porshe had this on lock. She did well in the previous memory competition, plus she's not a heavy smoker like Adam and should have been able to hold her breath much easier.

But, I got to admit, the BB producers edited this segment wonderfully. I was left wondering if Adam pulled it off, even after he had to run out and grab his goggles (that he threw to the ground after the filled with water, but then realized he needed in order to see). Was it close?!

PORSHE WINS PART 2!

There was some talk about both Rachel & Porshe's Final 2 deal from both sides, each of them wondering if the other would hold up their end of the deal after winning Part 3.

HOH COMPETITION – PART 3

It was Porshe vs. Rachel in a trivia game. They had to guess the correct statement from a member of the Jury House. I immediately thought Rachel had it in the bag, like JeJo commented earlier, Porshe didn't even talk to them. But when Rachel missed her own Bukie-Bear's comment I was worried. She was able to pull off 2 correct answers (surprisingly Porshe's closest allies – Kalia & Dani) for the win…

RACHEL WINS HOH - PART 3!

That means Rachel had all the power. She would get to chose from Adam and Porshe and was guaranteed at least $50,000. After a quick commercial break, Porshe & Adam gave their final speeches.

Porshe congratulated Rachel in a mediocre speech, but then Adam came out of no where and told Rachel to keep him and kick out Porshe because quote "You said last season 'Floaters grab a life vest'. This season: Floaters grab a paycheck?"

SERIOUSLY!? SERIOUSLY ADAM?! YOU'RE CALLING OUT PORSHE AS A FLOATER?! SERIOUSLY?!

Okay, rant over. I think Rachel made the tough decision to bring Porshe with her. I think she knew she'd probably lose Kalia & Dani's vote right there, but it was better than bringing Adam (who everyone - except Adam - knows was the Ultimate Floater and new term – Piggy Backer).

RACHEL EVICTS ADAM!

RACHEL & PORSHE ARE THE FINAL 2!

Adam goes out to meet Chenbot after a couple of his growling screams. The biggest thing from interview was when Chenbot asked if Rachel made the right decision in evicting him when he answered:

"Yep. If I was in the Final 2, I woulda won!"

It should have been a humbling sign when the audience didn't cheer or gasp but instead burst into uncontrollable laughter at the mere suggestion. Adam is completely delusional of how his game-play aired on national television and he's in for a rude awakening when he watches the season back. But, from what I can tell, he'll blame it all on the editing and swear to anyone that will listen to him that he was a great player, worthy of coming back for another season (PLEASE BB DO NOT DO THAT TO US!)

Then the JURY was back and ready to ask their questions and vote. I don't think their questions had any impact on who they were going to vote for so, but the jist:

Rachel repeatedly told the jury how much she fought to stay in the house. She's won 4 HOH, 2 POVs, had to watch her fiancée be voted off 2x while also having the biggest target on her back (she was on the block 5 times), but was able to change her social game and make deals that kept her in the game. She even apologized for her mean-spirited actions (I wish she had said, "I know that my emotions get the best of me sometimes and I just can't control what comes out of my mouth sometimes. It's something that I know about myself, and I'm trying to control it."). She even did some butt-kissing with Kalia, playing to Kalia's insecurity that everyone thinks she played Dani's game, by telling her she needed to evict her because she thought she would win in the end.

Porshe decided to play up on her first week decision to vote out Keith, but that the down-side was that she got the golden key and couldn't compete like she wanted too. But that she played as hard as she could in competitions she was allowed to play in, and said she won 4 competitons, while coming in 2nd in another 4.

After the questions, I was hoping just as Rachel was that the Jury would vote based on the best overall game play from start to finish. Porshe had it easy for the 1st 4 weeks (she had the golden key), then jumped ship to Dani (during her 3 week power surge) and then finally started playing on day 50-something. Rachel has been playing since she stepped foot inside the house. She won the first HOH, was a part of what could have been a legendary Alum-Alliance, survived her fiancée being evicted twice (though it was tough the first go around), and was able to make social moves that actually benefited her instead of sinking her. The girl definitely deserved to win out of the two, even if you hate her.

JURY CASTS THEIR VOTES

Some had witty, sarcastic, dumb things to say… but the votes were cast.

Before announcing the winner, we had to visit with the first 5 evictees (Keith, Evil Dick, Dominic, Cassie & Lawon) first. They really only had time to talk to 2 of them… first, Evil Dick berated his daughter's decision to go against what he set up (the Alum Alliance). Dani rebuffed him saying she realized that she didn't like the Alums and didn't want to play with them compared to her friends (the Newbies) and that she doesn't regret her decision to do so. He called her ploy to get rid of Jeff playing "too hard, too fast" (DUH!), but Dani isn't biting. Chenbot questioned Jeff if he and Dani buried the hatchet. Short-answer: Negative.

Then Cassie got to speak about watching her BFF Shelly's game unfold and how it surprised her. Shelly, in turn, just said that her and Cassie will be life-long friends and that she never did anything against her. Cassie seemed to understand.

THEN THE VOTES!

4 votes for RACHEL, 2 votes (eventually 3, although Chenbot didn't even have to read Adam's vote) for PORSHE.

RACHEL WINS BIG BROTHER 13!!

Rachel wins the bragging rights and $500,000. Totally deserved and it was kind of poetic actually. It came down to 2 sides and 1 swing vote… that swing vote = Shelly, much like she was all season. I think she made the right decision based on game-play and not personal love/hate of the houseguest. I think Rachel deserved to win this season over Porshe (and I would have said the same thing over Adam, Jordan, and Kalia). Rachel redeemed her villainess-self from last season into the root-worthy hero of today. You don't have to like her, but you have to admit she played a much better game this season.

Big Brother 13 Winner Rachel
Big Brother 13 Winner Rachel: Awesome

I see Brenchel joining the Amazing Race now right? Or trying to pawn their wedding story to CBS? Come on now, who wouldn't want to watch that train wreck?

It also means that PORSHE wins the second place trophy of $50,000. Not to bad for running around in bikinis and sweatsuits for a summer...

And who's AMERICA'S FAVORITE HOUSEGUEST?! JEFF!

Duh! He wins a cool $25,000.

So, I'm completely satisfied with this season of BB. I think the most deserving person won. Plus, the person I least wanted to see win any money at the end (ADAM) didn't get a dime. Oh, Big Brother. I heart thee. 'Til next summer folks.

Big Brother, It Doesn't Pay to be Nice

Last night we picked up with the Final 4 Houseguests after Adam's big HOH win. They apparently didn't get much time to scramble before nominations because we quickly got a peek inside his HOH room full of pictures of his girlfriend Fara and a bunch of bacon products, before each of the ladies pleaded their case.

Porshe was the first as she tried to "plant seeds" in Adam's head. Of course, she didn't want to go on the block, but she was really pushing for a Newbie Final 2 and that Jordan should be the 3rd because she already won the grand prize (and in her head that would make her less likely to win again?)

Rachel used her time to congratulate Adam on his win and try to casually reinforce their alliance. It was Jordan who saw through Adam, knowing that he was at least considering getting rid of one of the Alums this week.

NOMINATION CEREMONY

Adam did the easiest, yet oddly honorable thing. He nominated Porshe (to keep his promise to the alliance with Rachel & Jordan) and then nominated Jordan (with the explanation that she hasn't won a POV like Rachel has and this would be her opportunity).

All three women knew that they had to win this last POV to guarantee their safety. Porshe had the odds stacked against her, since a Rachel or Jordan win would mean she was definitely going home.

POV COMPETITION

When I saw that it was memory puzzle game I thought Rachel would have it on lock. But it was Porshe that had the best strategy: instead of placing the name blocks on the pole, she propped them in order on the ground first. She was the first to have her whole stack completed and even after the bell told her she was wrong, she was able to quickly figure out she was just one question off and was able to buzz in before anyone else was even close!

PORSHE WINS POV!

Good for her! (Although I'm not a fan of the Newbies, I do support any scenario that defers from what I think is most likely to happen) Rachel instantly broke down in tears (I love how she feels totally justified in crying when she loses, but yet completely hated on Kalia for doing the same thing last week). Jordan calms her down by telling her that she could win this whole thing and that she (Jordan) deserves to get evicted this week (based on her season long competition-track record).

I thought that Rachel had the right reaction; it should be a no-brainer for Porshe… get rid of the person that stands the best chance at winning the final HOH. With Rachel and Jordan on the block, that should have been an easy decision, Jordan doesn't have the track record in competitions that Rachel does.

BUT, Porshe started thinking more end game: She thinks Rachel will be harder to beat in the last HOH (compared to Jordan), but she thinks that Rachel will be easier to beat in the Final 2 (compared to Jordan). (I personally don't agree with that.)

Adam tells Porshe that he'd rather compete against the best (Rachel) and let the chips fall where they may. Then Rachel tells Porshe exactly what she wants to hear (she talks about how well she's done) and that if she keeps her she has a better chance of getting a Final 2 spot (because if she doesn't win the last HOH, Adam would most likely bring her and Rachel would most likely bring her).

All of that scrambling, plus Jordan anti-scrambling led to…

POV CEREMONY / LIVE EVICTION

Porshe, obviously, uses the Veto to take herself off the block and Rachel must take her place. Rachel gives her speech addressing each of the remaining houseguests, and then Jordan basically tells us she's going home.

Porshe casts her vote live…

JORDAN IS EVICTED!!

During her exit interview with Chenbot she tells her that she believed that it was her time to go, especially considering all the hard-work Rachel has put in all season. She even tells us she didn't even want to come back this season, but did it because Jeff wanted too. I truly believe that Jordan is the least competitive person I've ever seen on a reality competition show, just saying. But I love her anyway, as much of the house (and America) agrees. I wouldn't be surprised if her or Jeff won America's Favorite Player (and the $25,000 prize).

PART 1 – FINAL HOH

It's the Part 1 of the 3 Part Final HOH Competition. The winner of this round advances to Part 3, the two losers have to battle it out in Part 2. Part 1 is the endurance competition, in which the Final 3 are standing on small ledges and being turned in a circle over a liquid butter concoction with stuff randomly spraying on them…

SCENARIOS – HOH PART 1

I think Rachel has the best chance of winning this one, considering it's purely psychological and physical strength. Her biggest competitor in this challenge will be Porshe… I don't think Adam has a chance in hell of winning this one.

SCENARIOS - HOH PART 2

Part 2 is usually a mental-puzzle game, and if the last POV is any indication Porshe has the best chance of winning that one. If she's won Part 1, I think it would be a close battle between Rachel & Adam.

SCENARIOS – HOH PART 3

Part 3 is usually a trivia-style game and it depends on who's in those final 2 spots who I think has the advantage…

If it's Rachel vs. Porshe – I think Rachel will win it.
If it's Rachel vs. Adam – I think this will be close, with the slight advantage going to Rachel
If it's Porshe vs. Adam – I think Adam would win it.

FINAL 2 SCENARIOS

If Rachel wins final HOH – I think she has the best chance of winning the whole shebang. If I were her the choice would be tough. Adam is the ultimate floater, so bringing him is the easier choice (but yet, it's kind of a cop-out – because it was part of her game-play that she hates floaters). I think she'd still beat Porshe, but the vote may be closer since Porshe has friends in the jury house (Kalia & Dani), so Rachel would really have to convince Shelly & Adam to vote for her.

I personally believe she deserves to win this season and if she's in a Final 2 seat, the Jury better recognize. You don't have to like her, but she did play the best overall game out of the 3 remaining houseguests hands-down. The only thing in her way is if the Jury vote on who they like more than based on game-play.

If Porshe wins final HOH – She has the second best chance of winning this thing, but only if she brings Adam. She has a much better track record than he does. Although she was a floater, she picked her side earlier than he did (earning her Jury votes from former alliance members Kalia & Dani) and she has won a few significant competitions. Adam can't say either of those two things. The only con with Porshe sitting next to Adam is that the Alums like/know Adam more and that may sway their vote.

I personally wouldn't mind if Porshe won it. I don't think she deserves to win over Rachel, but I think she's played a decent game since about the middle of the season. Her biggest weakness was strategic/social game-play. But, starting out as a floater, but then picking an alliance and sticking with it even as it crumbled down around her along with picking up some competition wins (that actually meant something)

If Adam wins final HOH – (doubt it!) He has the least likely chance of winning. I think he has the most likely chance of getting into the Final 2 at this point though (because I think Rachel & Porshe would both easily win over him) and that frustrates the crap out of me. The only way I see him winning is if he's up against Porshe in the final 2 and the Alums throw him their votes (I hope they wouldn't do that).

I personally would hate to see Adam win this season of BB. And I'm fully committed to boycotting next season if he does. Like I've said before Adam is delusional. I really believe he thinks he played this game well. But as a true fan would know, he's the ultimate frustration. He floated the entire game, and the competitions he won really had no significant impact (even his last HOH, really had no impact on the house at all). It's bad enough that the worst player in BB history will most likely get $50,000 out of the deal that I really couldn't stand if he was awarded the grand prize.

Big Brother, And Then There Were Four

I actually missed Sunday's episode because I decided to have game-night with my fantastic family instead. So, I had to watch it on my itty-bitty net-book screen the next day… thanks CBS.com! Hence the no-post, but I'm back and the BB season is coming to a close

Big Brother, A Taste of Your Own Medicine

We caught back up with the houseguests to finish watching Shelly scramble for Jordan and Rachel's votes this week. She approached Rachel and again promised everything under the sun (that basically she wouldl do their bidding without question until the Final 3). When Rachel tells her that they can't trust her, she offers up her "past, present and future" ring, which means the most to her, as collateral. Rachel doesn't take it, but it raises the possibility of keeping Shelly for the two Alums. Jordan just has a guy feeling it's wouldn't be good to keep her… and we find out that the "past, present and future" ring is a fake version of the real one, and Shelly had no real tie to keeping her word to Rachel

Big Brother – Double Eviction Night

We picked up with the houseguests after Big Jeff announced he was using the POV to take down one of his own nominations (Porshe) and replacing her with Dani. Dani told us in yesterday's episode she wasn't going to lay down and take it, and she didn't… But that's because she had an actual glimmer of hope. Let me explain

Big Brother, ZZZZZZZING!

We caught back up with the houseguests after Sunday's nomination ceremony in which Jeff nominated Kalia (for putting him up 3 weeks ago) and Porshe (for being a floater). It was basic knowledge to everyone (in the house & the audience) that if Dani didn't win the veto, she was in grave danger of being back-doored. And thus, that was the topic of conversation pre-veto. The only escape we got from that was a strip-tease from Jordan that was only mildly sexier than Adam's elf-costume strip-tease a few weeks ago; although this time, Jeff & Adam seemed to pleased enough with it

We catch up with the houseguests as they're still competing in the soapy endurance HOH competition. Dani was relying on Porshe or Kalia to bring home the win as she sat on the sidelines. Big Brother, a New Queen is Crowned

So… we finally got to see who won this week HOH Endurance Competition… OR if you read my spoiler section from Thursday's recap, you got to see how she won. The first 5 houseguests to fall off their skis had to pick a snowball. Adam was the first to fall, and he picked the lucky snowball with the 'wear an elf costume for the week' inside. It ended up not being such a bad costume compared to seasons' past with the unitards & the banana costume; he lucked out. The 3 'Have Not' snowballs went to Lawon, Brendan & Jordan while the '$10,000' snowball went to Jeff.
