Big Brother 8/31/11
Big Brother, After-Effects of Pandora's Box
Porshe's decision to open Pandora's Box gifted her (and Kalia) with $5000 (each), but it gave Jordan and Rachel so much more… HOPE.
Pandora's Box brought the Duo Twist back into play one more week. Jordan & Rachel teamed up and everyone in the house knew that if one of them were to win this week's POV, they'd be able to take themselves off the block as a Duo, and forcing the Newbie Alliance to turn against each other.
I was actually surprised at how long the newbies talked about possibly not putting Rachel-Jordan up on the block. It finally came down to supposed-super-fan Adam that said "It doesn't matter; everyone plays the veto this week".
Shelly & Adam talk – Shelly was upset that her plan could have serious ramifications on her this week. But Adam loves it, he knows he's in a much better spot than she is, and will most likely float through another week.
Rachel & Jordan talk to Kalia & Porshe – Now, Jordan actually did all the talking (because she knows that the girls don't like/trust Rachel) and lays out a tentative deal with them. Keep them around and vote off a floater, and get a final 4 deal with them (essential promising to vote off the remaining floater next week). Kalia & Porshe take it under consideration. They're willing to go with it (at least appear to go with it) if Rachel & Jordan win the veto. But, following through on it will depend on who wins the next HOH. (If Kalia does, deal is null & void; if Rachel/Jordan wins they'll try and seal the deal).
So the nominations were made…
RACHEL & JORDAN ARE ON THE BLOCK
POV COMPETITION
Everyone's original Duo partner had their likeness in a hanging dummy. Each of the final 6 would have to hang on, last one standing wins the veto. I'm actually surprised with this competition, because it was so close to the original challenge of the season (banana challenge), but I knew it was Rachel's competition to lose (she won the banana challenge).
Poor, useless Adam fell off in less than 5 minutes, exclaiming that he's "still to fat" and Jordan didn't hang on much longer… dropping out in under 10 minutes due to losing feeling in her arms. Shelly dropped in less than 15 minutes and Porshe dropped before the 20 minute mark.
So that left us with Rachel, who smartly was using her legs to hold on, vs. Kalia who was obviously struggling (and farting). Kalia dropped just after the 30 minute mark.
RACHEL WINS POV!
At this point everyone knows that Rachel will use the Veto to take herself and Jordan off the block, which means that Shelly and Adam will be the replacement nominees. So now, it comes down to some scrambling.
Shelly has some work to do and I think she does the best moves she can in this situation. I thought it was good that Jordan told Rachel they can't listen to Shelly's pleas, but we'll see if she can follow through on that…
Shelly apologizes and explains things to Jordan. She realized last week that her alliance with the 2 of them was not in the best interest of her winning the money for her family and she had to make the move that would be in the best interest. But I think she does, genuinely, feel bad that she had to hurt Jordan along the way.
SIDE NOTE – I heard poor Shelly's family was receiving death threats after the past 2 weeks. Now, that's a bit much, isn't it BB super-fans!? I actually give props to Shelly for realizing that her alliance with JeJo wasn't in her best interest and applaud that she was willing and able to get Jeff evicted… I would have done the same thing in her situation. The only thing I would NOT have done was try to save Dani (I thought Dani was just as much a threat to Shelly winning the money as Jeff was).
Jordan also apologized for calling Shelly a "piece of shit" in the purple room. I think Shelly's right; it will take time for Jordan to realize that what she did was just a game move and truly forgive her for it. I think it was just hard for Jordan, because she thought that their friendship was greater than game. Hopefully it will be once the game is over. Jordan concluded with an "I've forgiven her, but I won't forget".
Later, Shelly tried to talk some game with both Jordan and Rachel (wearing sunglasses inside). She basically offered them the world. She played up to Rachel & Jordan's fears… that Kalia & Porshe will be the final 2. She told them she realizes she might be 3rd seat in all scenarios and she doesn't want to see Kalia & Porshe in the final 2 chairs and would much rather be sitting 3rd to a Jordan & Rachel final 2. She promises them her vote until the final 3. She promises that if she's left in the HOH competition with both of them, she'd quit. It's all the right things to say, it will just depend on whether or not Rachel & Jordan trust her enough to go through with it.
POV CEREMONY
Rachel pulls herself and Jordan off the block making Porshe replacing them with…
SHELLY & ADAM ON THE BLOCK
Adam's hoping that Shelly's the bigger target, but I'm not so sure. I think it could go either way and it wouldn't make much difference. Whichever one stays will most likely sway to whichever side of the house wins the next HOH. (They both the most losing-track record in history of BB to make it this far I think, so the likelihood they'd win isn't so great), so I think it comes down to whoever Rachel & Jordan feel like has a better shot of winning the whole game out of the two (IMO – Shelly) and vote that person out.
SCENARIOS
Shelly is evicted – 51% chance – I think she did everything she could to convince Rachel and Jordan that she should stay, which is why I've given her only a slight edge in probability of going home over Adam. I think it would be the wise-move for Rachel & Jordan to evict her this week.
Adam is evicted – 49% chance – He hasn't done anything to convince Jordan & Rachel to keep him; he's totally relying on them voting off Shelly for evicting Jeff. But he might regret that because of Shelly's been campaigning HARD. The other thing working against him is that he's the ultimate floater (at least Shelly's been playing a dynamic social game), and Rachel hates floaters.
I think out of her and Adam, at least Shelly has a big-game move she could play up if she was sitting in a final 2 chair. Plus I think she's played a great social game. I haven't seen anyone else be able to play both sides for as long as she has and still be in the game. Plus she's got the whole "I'm a mom and I'm doing this for my family" thing going for her.
What does Adam have? That's right… nothing. So who would you possibly want to sit next to in the final 2? My choice would be Adam, even though I'd absolutely hate seeing him in a final 2 chair. Your argument could be "if you give this ultimate floater the grand prize, this whole season will go down in history of BB as the biggest joke."
Plus I think you have to look at the chances that he'd make it to that final 2 seat. I think the odds are stacked against that happen much more so than if Shelly were to stay.
HOH SCENARIOS
Jordan/Rachel win – (I'd love to see this happen) I'm just not on board with the newbies this season and would much rather see one of the Alums take it. They'll have to decide which deal they'll follow through with. If they kept Shelly, their deal with Kalia & Porshe is off. If they kept Adam they can decide to stay true to their deal with Kalia & Porshe or not. But the POV would be the biggest deciding factor here.
Kalia wins – Since Porshe can't play, Kalia must pull off a win here. If she does they have to decide whether or not to keep their final 4 deal with Jordan & Rachel, although I don't find that very likely. They'd most likely target Rachel again, with Jordan being the back-up plan.
If Shelly stays, then wins – I think this is not very likely (based on prior performance and her deals with both sides). But if she were to stay, and then win the HOH she'd have to decide between her 2 alliances. Go with Jordan & Rachel who ultimately would have had to have just saved her or backstab them once again and go with Kalia & Porshe. I think she's straddled in the middle if she stays and wouldn't really want to put herself in this situation.
If Adam stays, then wins – Again, I doubt this will happen (track-record). But it'd be kind of interesting if it did right? He'd actually have to make a decision. He'd actually have to make a game move. Everyone would be scrambling to make final 2 deals with him and throw their partner under the bus. Is it bad that I kind of want to see this happen?
