Big Brother, Pandora's Box Saves This Week From Boredom
But before we get to that… as I correctly predicted BB-producers HAD to show us the big blow-up between Jeff & Shelly before Dani's eviction.
SIDE NOTE – I just want to say, when people ask me why I like reality shows like BB, I tell them it's mostly because I like to watch how people react in situations they put themselves in. It's the greatest social/psychological experiment... really! This week shows just how people react when they're faced with a (true) secret being exposed to a person they never wanted it exposed to. HINT - 1) explode with anger 2) deny, deny, deny 3) Accuse the person that expose the (true secret) - Basically the same thing you would do if accused of farting...
The blow-up started when Rachel interrupted Jeff's dental hygiene to ask whether or not he threw the corn-hole POV (true secret). He, of course, angrily denied it and asked where she heard it from. Once he found out it was Shelly he was even more upset. He thought he had Shelly wrapped around his finger, and to see she was still playing both sides really pissed him off and had him worried that because she let this particular secret slip, she was plotting against him somehow.
Meanwhile, Shelly went to Adam one more time to see if he'd go along with the plot to keep Dani… He said no. Then Jeff was then a "meanie beanie" to Shelly in the kitchen, which tipped her off that he might know that she's was plotting to keep Dani in the house over Kalia.
So when Jeff pulled Adam aside in the Purple Room to see what he knew, Adam lied (horribly) that it was Shelly just being paranoid.
Then, Shelly burst in thinking Adam was telling Jeff about her plan to keep Dani (secret truth) and angrily denied that she was involved in such a plan – Only thing was, Jeff didn't know about "the plan", he just knew there was something up. Shelly didn't believe that Adam actually kept his mouth shut, and angrily kept denying her involvement. Jeff brought up the fact that she's been covering her own ass since Day 1 with possible final 3 deals with everyone and that he's been straight up with her.
Then came a point where Shelly realized that maybe Adam didn't tell Jeff about "the plan", but now that she did, she had to back-pedal a bit. She told Jeff that she had to explore all her options, but that Adam was just as involved in "the plan" as she was (lie! She was really the mastermind behind "the plan" and Adam rebuffed "the plan"), and she never really considered turning on their deal (lie!)… This upset Adam a bit, but he's not so good at getting in a word, and basically got thrown under the bus with her.
Then they basically both accused each other of thinking only for themselves and not the good of the alliance (which was true, but necessary, only 1 person wins the big prize), which, of course, they both denied. The truth snuck out a bit later when she told Jeff she had to consider a plan that would split JeJo up to give everyone else left in the house the opportunity to win the money.
While this was all going on Dani was doing her hair in the bathroom. It seemed like she clearly knew she was going home, so my question is whether or not Shelly was planning to vote out Kalia, and decide what was best for her as it came next, but because of this blow-up with Jeff, she decided to legitimately switch sides. I guess we'll never know (especially since we know that it fell in her favor thus far).
It was only a momentary pause in the action until the live eviction started and everyone realized it was going to be a double eviction. After Dani was evicted (with a vote of 3-2, the Alums couldn't figure out if it was Shelly or Adam that switched. I thought it looked pretty obvious: while Adam swore his vote evicted Dani, Shelly was off being pumped up by Kalia & Porshe.)
But once Kalia won the HOH, Jeff was the one that needed to start back-pedaling. He needed to try and sway Shelly back to his side in less than an hour. He was really screwed when Porshe picked up the POV and kept the nominations (him and Rachel) the same. After a quick talk with Adam, he knew he needed Shelly's vote to stay. He tried to appeal to her ethics by saying he kept his word to her, but the bridge was already burned.
When the votes went down it was 2-2, and Kalia got break the tie and evicted Jeff. This sent Jordan & Rachel into a crying downward spiral. They couldn't figure out how the votes went down. Again, I thought it was pretty obvious… while Adam told them he voted to keep Jeff, Shelly was being consoled by Kalia & Porshe for evicting him.
HOH COMPETITION
By this point, the 6 remaining houseguests had to do another HOH competition. It was the ball on a wooden snake challenge. They all went 1 time and was ranked based on how far down the snake they were able to get their ball.
Even though Adam seemed to practice the most he came in last. He had to battle against 4th ranked Rachel. Rachel won easily.
Rachel then had to go against 3rd ranked Porshe. Rachel choked, Porshe won and Rachel sulked.
Porshe, then had to go against 2nd ranked Shelly. Shelly rooted her on to get a snake-eye, in hopes that she wouldn't have to go up against Jordan herself. Porshe did end with a snake-eye, and beat Shelly.
Then Porshe had to go up against 1st ranked Jordan. I was pulling for Jordan, but Porshe was on a roll…
PORSHE WINS HOH!
While Shelly-Kalia-Porshe celebrated, Rachel & Jordan spiraled deeper down and Adam realized he needed to butt-kiss the side with power and distance himself from the Alums. Rachel & Jordan sulked together about their bad luck as they knew it was going to be one of them going home this week.
Next up should have been the HOH room reveal, but instead we got a…
PANDORA'S BOX
Porshe had the choice to open Pandora's Box (which is suppose to unleash something good and something bad)… She got to peer in and see 2 $5000 prize boxes plus a bottle of champagne before making her choice. Curiosity won out and she decided to open Pandora's box. She realized that she won the $10,000, but had to read another envelope downstairs in front of everyone.
Once she gathered everyone in the living room, she told them she had opened Pandora's Box, and because she did the "Duo Twist" is back into play for this week. (That the duo had to be nominated as a pair, if either one wins the POV, they can both be taken off the block.) The houseguests had to choose then had to chose their duo partners. Porshe asked Kalia (which makes her safe), Rachel asked Jordan and Adam and Shelly got stuck together.
This was the best case scenario for Rachel & Jordan this week, instead of knowing that one of them was definitely going to be evicted this week, now they both have the chance to stay and get rid of the person of their choosing (Shelly).
It's probably the worst case scenario for everyone else. They thought this week would be a cake-walk… Even if Rachel OR Jordan won the POV, they still could easily vote out the other (putting Adam up as a pawn). Now they can't do that. If Rachel OR Jordan wins, they'll automatically be taken off the block, and Shelly-Adam are the only other duo available for eviction. Plus it gives the majority of the house votes straight to Rachel & Jordan.
The episode ended with Kalia-Porshe-Shelly debating on who to put up, but it doesn't matter. Everyone will be playing in the POV competition, so there's no way to back-door anyone. Porshe will nominate Rachel & Jordan and the POV is down-right crucial.
SCENARIOS
Rachel OR Jordan win POV – (I hope this happens!) They take themselves off the block, Shelly & Adam go up in their place, and they evict Shelly.
Adam/Shelly OR Porshe/Kalia win POV – They leave the nominations the same, and I think it will be a toss-up on who to evict. I think the smarter choice would be to evict Jordan, only for the fact that if somehow she makes it to the end, she's still much more likely to win jury votes, at least compared to sitting next to the likes of Rachel.
What do you want to happen?! Are you glad (like I am!) that this week included Pandora's Box (and the return of the Duo Twist) to make this week much more interesting than it would have been otherwise?
