Big Brother 8/21/11

Big Brother, The First King

We catch up with the houseguests as they're still competing in the soapy endurance HOH competition. Dani was relying on Porshe or Kalia to bring home the win as she sat on the sidelines. Rachel wanted the win to prove to everyone she can win without Brendan. And Jeff wanted to win, because he knows he'd be voted "most likely new male target".

After watching the houseguests slip-and-slide their way through the competition, it really came down to 3 contestants: Jeff, Rachel and Porshe. When Jeff was pulling ahead, Rachel knew that she had to cheer him on to show him her loyalty while Dani was sitting on the sidelines, glad she made "a deal" with JeJo earlier that week. Porshe just wanted her first win…

JEFF WINS HOH!

This competition was made for a strong male to win, so if Jeff didn't it would have been shameful, really. So, after 3 weeks of Dani-and-company reign, it was back to the old Alum Couple Alliance that ruled the first 4 weeks.

Instead of a Have-Have-Not Competition, Jeff got to choose which 3 houseguests would be saddled with slop, hard-boiled eggs and jalapenos. He chose Dani & Porshe because they haven't been a Have-Not yet, and then threw in Kalia too. It was a no-brainer, but the threesome didn't dig the implications.

After getting a peek at Jeff's HOH room, which included an adorable letter from his neice, Rachel was the one that stuck to the couch in order to get a first-dib talk with the new HOH. So while Jeff thanked Rachel for keeping a good pace and cheering him on, Shelly was in the kitchen fuming. She decided she had to go up and confront Rachel about "making eyes" at her. She barged in on Jeff, Rachel and Jordan (eating Lucky Charms) to yell at Rachel and tell her to stop "making eyes" at her and "cutting her down" while also threatening to either kick Rachel out of the alliance or walk herself. Rachel surprisingly stayed calm and didn't get defensive at all. Jeff cut in to tell them they needed to work together now and just to squash everything that was done before. Shelly seemed reluctantly okay with this plan, while Rachel nodded in agreement.

Once Shelly left the room, Jeff and Jordan praised Rachel for being able to keep her mouth shut and keep the peace for the sake of the alliance. Smart move Rachel.

Then came the round of HOH-pleadings. First, Kalia wanted to see where Jeff's head was at. He pretty much told her that he was going to stick to what he said three weeks back. She put him up on the block, so she's getting it in return.

Then Dani wanted to reconfirm the deal she made with JeJo last week in which they weren't going to go after each other. Jeff told her that he'd stay true to the deal. When Dani guessed that Porshe and Kalia would be put up and that she knew she'd be playing in the Veto no matter what (she got the Veto Card last week), what he'd want her to do. He obviously told her that he wouldn't want her to use it on Kalia or Porshe, so Dani said she'd probably throw the competition. Jeff liked this idea, because it could possibly give him the opportunity to back-door Dani.

Porshe tried to talk some game with Jeff for the first time in 49 days. Jeff wasn't having it. He's on the anti-floater bandwagon, especially if they're more on the opposing side. She tries to tell him she wants to win competitions (she's come in 2nd place 3 times), but that really doesn't mean anything. She tries to tell him if he keeps her off the block, she won't nominate him if she wins next week. It doesn't stick.

NOMINATION CEREMONY

So, it was pretty clear who Jeff was going to put up and I think he did it the smartest way possible.

KALIA and PORSHE are on the BLOCK.

He told them to step up, win the veto and take themselves off the block.

It was the best strategic move (for JeJo) to put up these two. As of right now, they're keeping their word to Dani by not putting her up, but keeping the options open... If nominations remain the same, their alliance can chose who they want to evict and get rid of a Dani-supporter either way. If one of them comes off the block, it's the perfect opportunity to back-door Dani and get out a solid-game player.

POV SCENERIOS

1. JeJo, Shelly, Rachel, Shelly or Adam win a. They keep the nominations the same and evict Kalia or Porshe
b. They use it to back-door Dani
2. Kalia or Porshe win – Whoever wins comes down, Dani most likely goes up and gets evicted.
3. Dani wins – Dani realizes that it's too risky to believe JeJo and wins the veto.
a. She could keep the nominations the same and hope that it shows enough loyalty to JeJo (because it doesn't really matter who comes down, their side will still have the votes to evict whoever they want).
b. She could take down one of the nominations (most likely Kalia), Adam would most likely go up as a pawn and Porshe would most likely go home

I'm kind-of hoping that Dani is cocky and throws the veto, but I think she's smarter than that. It will really come down to who wins.

Do I think Jeff or Jordan would fight hard to win the veto?

No. It's better for them if they don't win and have to replace a nominee, than to win and openly backdoor Dani.

Do I think that Rachel/Shelly/Adam would fight hard to win the veto?

Yes (in varying levels).

Rachel's competitive and doesn't like Dani for evicting Brendan twice, which gives her more incentive to win this veto and force a replacement nominee, most likely Dani. JeJo could essentially let Rachel take the heat for this.

Shelly hasn't won a competition yet and is pretty upset about it, which gives her an incentive to win the veto, but I think it would be harder to convince everyone if she used the veto to force a replacement (it'd be essentially JeJo telling her to use it, in order to back-door Dani).

Adam. Oh, Adam. He'd want to win, just to win, but really? I hate even discussing him.

Do I think Kalia/Porshe will fight hard for this veto?
Duh. They're on the block. I think they both have an equal shot at going home, with the slight edge going to Kalia because of her closeness with Dani and her choices as HOH 3 weeks back.

Do I think Dani will fight hard for the veto?
Not sure. She's, at least, considering throwing the veto competition to show her faith in the deal that her and JeJo made last week, but I think she's smarter than that. I think it will come down to what the POV competition is and how she feels right before or during it. I can totally see her winning and foiling JeJo's plan of back-dooring her.
