Barbados...ahh
Barbados is by far the most gorgeous island I've visited...
The wonderful island of Barbados is situated just east of the Caribbean Sea, is an independent island nation in the western Atlantic Ocean. The island's climate is tropical, but winds keep temperatures mild. Some less developed areas of the country contain tropical woodland and mangroves. Other parts of the interior which contribute to the agriculture industry are dotted with large sugarcane estates and wide, gently sloping pastures, with panoramic views down to the coast. Barbados is a relatively flat island, rising gently to the central highland region, the highest point being Mount Hillaby. Barbados is often spared the worst effects of the region's tropical storms and hurricanes during the rainy season as its far eastern location in the Atlantic Ocean puts it just outside the principal hurricane strike zone, and a hurricane hits about every 26 years.
I went to this amazing island on a Carnival Cruise, and have been dying to go back and explore it further ever since. This island is a tiny part hotels and resorts and mostly gorgeous rolling hillsides, deserted white sand beaches and the clearest turquoise water I've ever encountered.
Barbados is teeming with incredible year-round attractions and activities. You can sail the seas aboard a graceful catamaran or lively pirate ship (which I did and was by far the best experience with a bunch of strangers!) and tour the splendid natural wonders from coast to coast. Meet island artisans, visit Bridgetown’s beguiling boutiques, enjoy fresh seafood on the picturesque harbor and savor the evening sunset or step out and sample the pulsating nightlife. Or better yet just settle into a beach chair and watch the yachts ease by. But don't forget about the water sports, spas, hiking and biking trails, tours of distilleries or shipwrecks, and did I mention the golfing?! Tiger Woods is a big fan of Barbados and frequents the links there (I believe he even spent his honeymoon on this beautiful island!)
If you are considering going to a tropical island I highly recommend Barbados, and hope that you enjoy the picturesque setting.
