American Idol Top 7 Announced
American Idol 10 (Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8PM on FOX)
It was a jam packed results show last night, so let's get straight to it shall we?
Scott McCreery and Lauren Alaina opened the show (you know after the Seacrest rant in the beginning) with a cover of Lady Antebellum's "American Honey". It's their second duet during a results show night, and I gotta say they could easily go on the road together. Although I do think that Lauren's voice outshone Scotty's in the particular song. She sounded effortless and wonderful.
We then got behind-the-scenes of their zombified Ford Music Video, and I gotta say that the behind-the-scenes was much more interesting than the video itself. Then we also got Rob Reiner talking with the contestants, since it was Movie Week. It was the oddest segment of the night fo-sho.
We then got the best group number of the night, Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams dueting to Charles Mingus' "Moanin'". It was jazzy and sexy and fun. Good for them, they've got some chemistry, no?
Then our first results:
CASEY vs. HALEY vs. SCOTT vs. LAUREN
SCOTTY is SAFE!
LAUREN is SAFE!
Seacrest tells us one will be in the bottom, the other will be safe.
CASEY is SAFE!
HALEY is in the BOTTOM 3!
I hate how Haley takes the news. It's so awkward and lame.
Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol Winner was back on the main-stage with her duet partner, Jason Aldean for their country hit "Don't You Want to Stay?" it was a very good performance in my opinion.
Then we had the last group performance of the night with Jacob Lusk, James Durbin, Paul MacDonald and Stefano Langone covering "The Graduate".... worst performance of the night by a long shot.
Then we got more results. 2 of the 4 remaining guys would be in the Bottom 3.
JACOB vs. JAMES vs. PAUL vs. STEFANO
JAMES is SAFE!
STEFANO is in the BOTTOM 3!
JACOB is SAFE!
PAUL is in the BOTTOM 3!
Then we got a performance from Rihanna. Her new single "California King", I thought her vocals were amazing and the show was exciting to watch.
Ryan made a big deal about how since the Top 13 only women have gone home. Would the trend continue and Haley be booted, or will it end with one of the guys...
PAUL vs. HALEY vs. STEFANO
HALEY is SAFE!
(J.Lo looked the most happy about this, considering she didn't want to lose another girl this week)
So it was down to PAUL vs. STEFANO. Both have been in the Bottom 3 before, Stefano many more times than Paul...
STEFANO is SAFE!
PAUL is GOING HOME!
J.Lo requested "Maggie Mae" for his exit song, and Paul obliged.
I think this was the right choice. Stefano had one of his best performances thus far in the competition on Wednesday night's show and didn't deserve to be sent home after it. Paul has been struggling in my opinion since hitting the main stage, not really being able to find the right way to show himself.
Paul didn't seem that upset to be going home, and I think he's just excited to stop singing covers and use the exposure on the show to launch an actual career. I wish him luck.
Oh. And you know how I said Pia would be scooped up quick? Well rumor has it Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Records have already inked a deal with her and have started creating an album. SWEET.
