American Idol Top 12 Results Show
American Idol Season 10 (Wednesdays & Thursdays at 8PM on FOX)
One more contestant had to go home... And Idol wants to make sure you hav the opportunity to donate to Japan-relief via the Red Cross.
MONTAGE CLIP - I love these little clips where we actually get to know the contestants... highlights:
1. Paul has a 14-year old weiner dog that smells and is blind
2. Idol thought it was neccessary to bleep out sh!t in Shitzu when Pia talked about her dog.
3. Lauren doesn't think she has an accent and her personality confuses me to no end. She's trying to be funny, but to me it's almost if she's mentally impaired.
4. Scott tries out a "English" accent (he also wanted to be an astronaut!)
5. Thia collects coins with her grand-father.
6. Jacob wanted to be an on-air journalist/reporter

We also had to suffer through a Ford Video Commerical that had the contestants watching themselves in fake-movies at a drive-in... lame.
Then we also had the Group Performance and I'm torn:
Positive: They're now singing at least mostly live (at least during the solo bits) which I greatly appreciate, because it was something that used to irk me about the old seasons (they didn't sing group performances live). Plus I thought the mash-up of Lady Gaga's new hit "Born This Way" with the oldie "Born to be Wild" was really great.
Negative: They're now singing at least mostly live and really aren't pulling it off. I thought for the most part the choreography took over and no one sounded their best. Plus i think the group numbers are staged to be overly-cheesy.
Then we started getting some results:
BUT FIRST, it's St. Patty's Day!! YAY, BEER.
JACOB vs. LAUREN vs. CASEY
JACOB is SAFE!
LAUREN is SAFE!
CASEY is SAFE!
LAUREN is SAFE!
CASEY is SAFE!
*All "DUHs" at this point, did they really think we'd fall for one of them being in the bottom this early... Hell-to-the-no.*
HALEY vs. PAUL
Seacrest tells them one of them is safe, the other is in the Bottom 3...
PAUL is SAFE!
HALEY is in the BOTTOM 3 (again!)
HALEY is in the BOTTOM 3 (again!)
*DUH. Even though Paul didn't have the best night, it was clear that Haley was worse and she's already been in the bottom...*
Season 9 Champ, LEE DEWYZE was back on stage performing his newest single "Beautiful Like You"... it was a sweet song and decent performance. He tells this year's contestants to "Just remember why you tried out in the first place. You guys are fine, no matter what happens."
Then it's back to more results:
SCOTT vs. PIA vs. JAMES
SCOTT is SAFE!
PIA is SAFE!
JAMES is SAFE!
PIA is SAFE!
JAMES is SAFE!
*All "DUHs" at this point, did they really think we'd fall for one of them being in the bottom this early... Hell-to-the-no.*
NAIMA vs. STEFANO
Ryan tells them that one is safe, the other is in the Bottom 3, while also pointing out that they were both Wild Card Picks. Naima seemed to know it was her, but Stefano looked paralyzed in fear.
STEFANO is SAFE!
NAIMA is in the BOTTOM 3!
NAIMA is in the BOTTOM 3!
Naima talked about her relationship with the word "pitchy" and vowed to be in "perfect harmony" with the word "pitch" soon. I like her moxy.
*DUH. They tried to fake us out by throwing in the "wild card" line, but it was obvious that Stefano had one of the best performances this week and that the judges dogged not only Naima's performance this week, but took back their compliments of the previous week...*
So that left one more spot in the Bottom 3 and two more contestants:
KAREN vs. THIA
THIA is SAFE!
KAREN is in the BOTTOM 3!
KAREN is in the BOTTOM 3!
*Karen was my bottom pick, although I though Thia might be in trouble too. I hope she learns from Karen's mistakes and shows something different next week.*
Then the BLACK EYED PEAS perform their newest single "Just Can't Get Enough". It started off with just Will.I.Am and Fergie which made me think about last week's SNL skit with the "other members of the Black Eyed Peas"... They eventually show up, and there were tons of dancers. It's an okay song; I think it has to grow on me.
Back to results:
Ryan sends the first person back to safety...
NAIMA is SAFE!
HALEY vs. KAREN
HALEY is SAFE!
KAREN is in DANGER!
KAREN is in DANGER!
There's still the Judges' Save in play, so Karen basically begs the judges to keep her around before singing her last song "Hero"
The judges' "deliberated" while she sang (the performance was worse than when she sang it originally IMO) and Randy told us that it "wasn't unanimous" but that they weren't going to use the save on her.
It would have been dumb to use the save on Karen:
1. It's too early in the game. The judges' save should come when it's a shockin' moment and Karen's elimination of two medicore (at best) weeks wasn't shocking to anyone.
2. She clearly wasn't gaining voters and a save wouldn't have given her any more. She's been in the bottom the first 2 weeks in the competition. With the odds stacked against her and so many other "favorites" in the competition, she had little wiggle room to move up.
3. Her song choices were horrible. J.Lo was right, she picked songs that weren't in her range and it killed her and I'm not sure if Karen really understood that.
But it was nice to see the judges up on stage consoling her. It sounded as if J.Lo was the one that wanted to have her stay, and I heard a snippet of how she's pushing for better sound/hearing for the contestants while they're performing. I love J.Lo.
So... did America get it right? I think so. I'm now 2 for 2. Meet you back next week after the performances (Rumored to be MOTOWN week!)
