American Idol Results Show 13 to 12
American Idol (Wednesdays & Thursdays at 8PM on FOX)
This result show seemed jammed back and it flew by quickly (luckily also aided by me watching The Big Bang Theory first and being able to fast-forward through every commerical break and some of Ryan's monologues to boot! Ahhh, I love my DVR)
Any who, the Top 13 was whittled down by America to the Top 12. But Ryan made sure we knew that the Judges' Save is in play this season. They can save one contestant this season from American's Elimination all the way to the Top 5.
We had to go through the contestants moving into their new mansion, the contestants' first red carpet event (a screening of Red Riding Hood - Hello, Amanda Seyfried in da house!) a Ford Music video, AND a Michael Jackson medley group performance.
Seacrest brought up Jacob Lusk, Stefano Langone and Karen Rodriguez to mid-stage to determine their fate. After talk to each of them (Karen said she was having "technical difficulties" hearing herself during her last performance and vowed to be better next time if she sticks around). Then Seacrest did the meanest fake-out...
"All of you are safe... *pause for a moment to let them celebrate* ... except for Karen Rodriguez."
And he sent her to sit by herself on the stools of doom to watch Adam Lambert do an acoustic verison of his newest single "Aftermath". I think he looks much better without all the eyeliner and the sleek hair, but I'm not sure if it's really him or just his best effort to be "cleaned up" for the American Idol watchers. It was a good performance, but I must say I only really listened to half before fast-forwarding... You can hear the club remix verison on his website AdamLambert.com and proceeds go to charity.
Next up to learn their fate were Lauren Alaina, Ashthon Jones and Haley Reinhart. After Ryan went through his whole thing, Lauren started to break down saying she realized her performance was bad. Peaches (aka Seacrest) felt for her, and sent her back to the Safety Couch.
Then, I figured just one of the remaining girls would be sent over to the Stools of Doom... but I was wrong... Seascrest sent Ashthon there first, swiftly followed by Haley...
So that means the Bottom Three were Karen Rodriguez, Ashthon Jones and Haley Reinhart.
This basically shocked everyone, including the rest of the contestants, since usually everyone has to make their way to mid-stage during a results show.
They had to sit through Diddy-Dirty Money's performance that I completely fast-forwarded through. I feel like all his songs are the same, as well as all his performances. I know there's going to be a smoke machine and pictures of Notorious BIG flashing up behind him.
And we're back and Ryan has to deliver the bad news, but first... Karen Rodriguez is sent to the Safety Couch!
That left us with Ashthon Jones vs. Haley Reinhart...
And Ashthon Jones had the fewest votes and was in danger of leaving. She had to sing for the Judges' Save.
And even though she said that she chose the wrong song(s), she decided to do the same Diana Ross song for her last chance. She sang it... the judges "deliberated" and J.Lo told her "not this time, baby"
My Thoughts - America got it right. I had Ashthon on the bottom of my rankings. I had high hopes for her going into the Top 24, but I think she song choices weren't very good and her diva-attitude threw a lot of people off.
I also thought that Karen deserved to be in the Bottom 3 because she had the worst performance of this Wednesday's night's show. I'm hoping she can turn things around.
Lastly, if you've been reading my blog, you know I'm not a big fan of Haley's voice, however I'm not sure she really deserved to be in the Bottom 3 based on her performance this week of "Blue", which I thought was actually the best performance from her to date. But I wouldn't shed any tears for her if she left, either.
Til next week folks! Rumor has it that the peformance show will finally be LIVE!! YAY to more pressure. AND, also wishing a speedy recovery to Casey Abrams who missed last night's results show due to illness (he was in the hospital... again!)
