Addictee: SAG Awards Fashion Police
Red Carpet Season is alive and well, and today I'm telling you what I liked and didn't like from last night's SAG Awards. If you want to check out the winners from the show, you can check them out here.
LOVE – Nominee Mila Kunis in a strapless, sweet-heart neckline red and black patterned chiffon Alexander McQueen gown paired with $300,000 worth of Cartier jewels. I thought the draping was beautiful, the pattern exquisite and her hair and make-up were glam.
LOVE – Winner Claire Danes in a strapless and belted Louis Vuitton gown with hand-stitched silk flower appliqués paired with 11-carat diamond earrings and vintage bracelets from Fred Leighton and Roger Vivier sandals. This was definitely unique in pattern and color than everything else on the SAG red carpet, and a big winner in my book.
LOVE – Nominee (Cast) January Jones in a black and gold lace Carolina Herrara gown paired with Roger Vivier gold pumps. I think the retro silhouette and the short sleeves look amazing on her, plus I think her up-do and make-up compliment it very well.
LOVE – Winner Natalie Portman finally shows off her baby bump in a strapless white Azzaro gown with sequined detail at the neckline, paired with Roger Vivier black stain clutch and $2 million worth of Tiffany & Co. jewelry. I thought she looked glowing and beautiful in this.
LOVE – Nominee Amy Adams in a curve-hugging off-white Herve L. Leroux halter gown, slick ponytail, Kimberly McDonald jewels and silver Casadei peep-toe shoes. This dress fit her like a glove, and I liked the simple up-do she paired with it.
LOVE – Presenter Eva Longoria in a plunging neckline, draped mousseline Georges Hobeika gown paired with Neil Lane diamond and platinum chandelier earrings. The draping of this dress is just beautiful and the taupe color is great on her skin.
LOVE – Nominee (Cast) Lea Michele in a deep-v-neck beaded and belted Oscar de la Renta gown paired with a Daniel Swarovski clutch and $1 million in Tiffany & Co. jewelry. I think this neckline is gorgeous and very feminine and it’s a nice change from the full gowns Lea has been wearing to big red carpet events. Plus I love her voluminous hair and neutral make-up.
LOVE – Presenter/Nominee/Winner (Cast) Sofia Vergara in a plunging neckline, curve-hugging sapphire blue Cavalli gown paired with Chopard’s 10-carat diamond earrings and a 9-carat diamond bracelet. Blue is definitely her color (every time she wears it, I love it!) and this dress fits her like a dream. (I’m totally jealous of her curves!)
LOVE – Nominee Kyra Sedgwick in a plunging neckline, black vintage Thierry Mugler couture dress paired with Roger Vivier black satin pumps, a boxy black Kilian clutch and $200,000 worth of Cartier jewelry. I love the curved and pointed neckline of this dress and how she kept everything else simple… gorgeous.
LOVE – Winner (Cast) Julie Bowen in a plunging neckline, high-waisted black Malandrino pant suit accented with Neil Lane jewels and sleek hair. She took a risk, wearing a pant suit, and I think it totally worked. She looked elegant, sleek, modern and sexy.
LIKE – Nominee Hilary Swank in a one-shoulder blush Versace gown with jeweled details paired with a VBH compact clutch and soft, romantic curls. I like the silhouette on her, but I’ve seen her in it many times before. Plus I think she could have done it in a better color.
LIKE – Presenter Rosario Dawson in a lemon-cream J.Mendel v-neck gown paired with bright green earrings, a Neil Lane cuff, a gold box clutch and peep-toe pumps. I thought this dress looked effortless on her.
LIKE – Nominee Nicole Kidman in a lace-back, black Nina Ricci gown paired with Fred Leighton diamond-and-enamel necklace. Although I think the dress looked a little ill-fitted on top and her hair looked a mess, I think the back of the dress made up for it; very pretty.
LIKE – Nominee (Cast) Dianna Agron in a strapless tea-length navy and black beaded Chanel Haute Couture dress paired with Fred Leighton jewels, platform pumps and a pretty clutch. I’m not a bit fan of the tea-length (just in general), but I think the colors work and I love her edgier hair and make-up.
LIKE – Winner Julianna Margulies in a strapless, sweet-heart neckline ruby red Yves Saint Laurent column dress paired with dramatic Bavna rose-cut diamond earrings and diamond ring. I thought the simplicity of the dress really worked in her favor, and the color looks great on her.
LIKE – Nominee Annette Bening in a gold sparkling Tony Ward Couture halter dress paired with diamond earrings and bangles. I really like the jeweled neckline and the gold color on her, but I think she might have played it a bit safe with the silhouette (empire-waist, gathered and draped front). Pictured below with husband Warren Beatty.
LIKE – Nominee Mariska Hargitay in a strapless and bustled blue-purple Isacc Mizrahi gown paired with gold-and-turquoise David Webb earrings. I think Mariska does color well, and she showed that again here. I really like her accessories and I think the silhouette works really well on her.
LIKE – Winner (Cast) Sarah Hyland in a strapless and knotted orangy-red Max Mara gown paired with Forevermark (by Me & Ro) jewels and gold platforms. I think this young actress will be one to watch for on the red carpet, she’s slowly coming into her own and picking interesting things (love her jewelry!)
LIKE – Nominee (Cast) Jane Krakowski in a sparkling silver one-shoulder short Badgley Mischka dress paired with nude peep-toe pumps. I think the dress flaunted her growing baby bump, but still looked glamorous.
LIKE – Nominee (Cast) Heather Morris in a strapless, sweet-heart neckline beaded bodice nude Romona Keveza dress paired with simple hair, make-up and accessories. I think she looks fresh, young and absolutely gorgeous.
LIKE – Nominee (Cast) Jayma Mays shows off some leg in a draped blush Jenny Packham gown (with high slit!) paired with strappy sandals, gold jewelry and pretty curls. I wish the color was just a shade darker, but I really like the silhouette on her.
LIKE – Amber Riley in a one-shoulder black Anne Barge gown paired with Report Signature shoes, Chopard jewelry and a Swarovski clutch. This is the second time Amber’s really wowed me. I think she’s choosing silhouettes that show off her voluptuous body in a really elegant way.
LIKE – Julia Stiles in an ombre gown (navy to white), strapless Monique Lhuillier gown paired with soft curls and sapphire jewelry. I think this dress looks flowy, confortable, and very feminine.
HATE – Nominee (Cast) Christina Hendricks in a black sequined L’Wren Scott wrap dress paired with a Judith Leiber clutch and Rene Caovilla peep-toe pumps. For me, the black against her porcelain skin just doesn’t work for me, although I think the top portion of the dress fits her well.
HATE – Nominee Hailee Steinfeld in a black, orange and hot pink striped gown paired with black peep-toe shoes (both by Prada) and a Solange Azagury-Patridge “Hot Lips” ring. I know she’s only 14-years old, and she has the stick-thin body needed to pull off horizontal stripes, but I don’t dig it. (Her hair is beautiful though!)
HATE – Nominee Jennifer Lawrence in a shockingly bright pink Oscar de la Renta dress, with multiple strapped neckline, black bowed belt and high front slit paired with antique Fred Leighton jewels, a Judith Leiber clutch and Roger Vivier sandals. For me this was way too much look. The color popped on the television screen though, but I think paired with the heavy make-up, the severe up-do and the black accessories it just didn’t work.
HATE – Nominee Tina Fey in a strapless red lace Oscar de la Renta gown paired with platinum-and-diamond Lorraine Schwartz earrings and ring. For me, this dress was wearing Tina, not the other way around.
HATE – Nominee (Cast) Winona Ryder in a strapless off-white Alberta Ferretti ball-gown paired with vintage accessories. This almost was a ‘LIKE’ for me, but I think the off-white fabric makes it looks too bridal.
HATE – Nominee (Cast) Jenna Fisher in a short-sleeved sparkling blue column gown by Fendi. For me, this silhouette does her body no justice. It makes her look top heavy and isn’t flattering in her mid-section either, plus this shade of blue doesn’t sit well on her skin tone in my opinion.
HATE – Nominee Jane Lynch in a lavender taffeta Ali Rahimi gown paired with Neil Lane jewelry and a Swarovski clutch. I like the neckline and silhouette on her, I even am okay with the color, but the fabric throws me off.
HATE – Winner (Cast) Helena Bonham Carter in two-tone tea-length Marc Jacob dress. This ensemble is definitely a step-up from the last outfit, but her old-fashioned up-do and make-up really don’t help matters.
HATE – Nominee (Cast)Naya Rivera in a shimmering spaghetti strapped Aurelio Costarella gown paired with Neil Lane jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes. The fit of the dress flattens her out, so it seems odd, although the back was quite pretty.
HATE – Winner Melissa Leo in a cap sleeved shimmering gold Randi Rahm gown with front slit and curly up-do. Although I think it looked better on TV than in this picture, the dress certainly didn’t show off her best assets. I think it had to do with the cut and fabric; it just didn’t flatter her shape.
HATE – Nominee Edie Falco in a strapless red and pink print column dress by Carolina Herrara. For me the combo of the red and pink with this silhouette seems ready-made Valentine’s Date wear, not right for the SAG Awards.
HATE – Nominee (Cast) Jenna Ushkowitz in a strapless and ruffled nude Badgley Mischka dress paired with gold Neil Lane jewels. For me I think this is ill-fitting and blah.
HATE – Presenter Angie Harmon in a pink strapless feathered and boned Monique Lhuillier gown paired with simple jewelry and a slick ponytail. Now I love her hair and make-up by the dress was awful in my opinion (too young, too gaudy).
LOVES!
