Addictee: Grammy Fashion Police
The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards were given out on Sunday, but I'm ready to hand out my Fashion Awards. There were definitely more than a few duds, so let's get to it shall we?!
LOVES
LOVE – Julianne Hough in a colorful, ruffled Malandrino gown paired with a Jimmy Choo clutch and Bochic earrings. I love the plunging neckline and the gorgeous print, plus I think her hair and make-up are beyond perfect with the dress.
LOVE – Jewel in a soft lemon, one-shoulder Pamella Roland dress accented with pink gold and coral Lorraine Schwartz chandelier earrings and a floral Daniel Swarvoski clutch. I think the pregnant singer looks feminine and soft in this, and the color suits her.
LOVE – Nicole Kidman in a strapless Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture petal-print gown, Fred Leighton jewelry and cascading waves. This look was straight from the runway and I really like the print and silhouette on her.
LOVE – Kim Kardashian in a plunging gold Kaufman Franco gown with high slit paired with nude Christain Louboutin peep-toe pumps and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. I think the Grammys are the perfect award show to bring the sexy, and she did it here.
LOVE – Jennifer Hudson in an asymmetrical Versce gown with sparkling bodice, Neil Lane jewels and Christian Louboutin buckled sandals and sleek, straight hair. This dress shows off her new slim figure quite nicely… she looks beautiful.
LIKES
LIKE – Eva Longoria in a flirty black and white ruffled Ashi Studio mini-dress with dramatic collar paired with Loree Rodkin drop earrings, a Sergio Rossi clutch and satin Brian Atwood platforms. The dress is dramatic, but maybe too casual for the event.
LIKE – LeAnn Rimes in a plunging, glittering gold draped Reem Acra gown with asymmetrical shoulders and shimmering drop Ippolita earings with a Lucifer Vir Honestus ring. I really like the draping of this dress, but wish she had a softer up-do paired with it.
LIKE – Lea Michele in a black ruffled Emilio Pucci dress with lace cut-out detail and thigh-high slit paired with matching Christian Louboutin pumps and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. I think the dress is sexy and fell on her body nicely.
LIKE – Selena Gomez in a shimmering gold J. Mendel gown paired with a metallic Judith Leiber clutch and Lorraine Schwartz colored diamonds. I think the silhouette was simple, but completely works on her.
LIKE – Miranda Lambert in a curve-hugging, one-shoulder Edition by Georges Chakra gunmetal gown, accessorized with NSR Nina Runsdorf jewels. I think the neckline and waist-cinching bodice of this dress is quite beautiful on her, but I wish the skirt flared a bit more (or less).
LIKE – Hilary Scott in a strapless black Roberto Cavalli gown with embellished waist detail, Martin Katz jewelry, and a Rene Caovilla clutch. I think the dress was simple, but figure-flattering and elegant. But I think she should stick with her usual curls, I didn’t dig the straight hair and bangs.
LIKE – Ciara in a daring white and blue patterned Emilio Pucci dress paired with a mix of Ofira and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and bold sandals. I think the bodice is interesting and unique and warrior-esque, yet the skirt is flowy, soft and feminine. A hard combination to pull off but I think she does it.
LIKE – Nicki Minaj in a leopard “masterpience” by Givenchy. Now, I know what you’re thinking… “You actually “LIKE” this?!” Yes, it’s crazy. But in terms of Nicki Minaj it’s actually pretty tame. Plus I think the silhouette is really great on her, and I kind of dig the legging/shoes. Crazy, right?
HATES
HATE – Jennifer Lopez in a sparkling platinum, long-sleeved Emilio Pucci ultra-mini-dress paired with spiked Christian Louboutin peep-toes, Cartier diamonds and a Daniel Swarovski clutch. For me, it looks like she forgot her pants. Now, I know she’s got the (Venus) legs to pull this off, but I’m going to give it a no this time.
HATE – Rihanna in an alternating white ruffle and sheer off-the-shoulder Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture mermaid gown. She snatched it straight off the runway, and I love her hair and make-up, but I can’t get behind the dress.
HATE – Katy Perry in a custom made Giorgio Armani gown with a Swarovski crystal encrusted bodice, silk organza skirt with a train, lit-up feather wings and Casadei platform heels. This was A LOT of look, and just looked like a big mess to me.
HATE – Miley Cyrus in a sequined tiger print, plunging neckline gown by Roberto Cavalli paired with armfuls of glittering Ofira blackened platinum bangles and big curls. This dress seems about 4 sizes too big and thus gets a bad rating from me.
HATE – Heidi Klum in a gold sequined Julien Macdonald gown with shoulder cut-outs, plunging neckline and high center slit accented with python-print Christian Louboutin platforms. It might just be the picture, but I think the cut-outs, slit and neckline isn’t quite figure-flattering.
HATE – Dianna Agron in a strapless black Vivienne Westwood frock, Judith Leiber box clutch and edgy House of Lavande vintage jewelry with a rocker pompadour and smoky eyes. For me the dress was okay, but the hair and make-up looked too edgy and as if she was trying too hard.
HATE – Florence Welch in a white and sheer swan-inspired Givenchy Haute Couture gown (with bold red back) and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Now this swan is much better than one that walked a red carpet years ago, but I still don’t think I like it.
HATE – Kelly Osbourne in an one-shoulder, frilly, ruffled lavender frock by Tadashi Shoji with eggplant bow belt and Forevermark diamonds. For me, this looks like a bad bridesmaid’s dress.
HATE – Hayley Williams in a black mid-drift showing, pink fringe mini-dress paired with black tights and platforms. This was just a YIKES moment from head to tattoo’d thigh.
