Addictee: Fashion Police 2/3/11

Heyyyyy! This is my Fashion Police, week in review 2/3/11. Every Thursday I'm going to click my way through www.people.com 'Last Night's Look: Hit or Miss?' and tell you what I like and what I didn't.

And if you're looking for SAG Award Fashion, you won't find it here... check out my post for all the best and worst here instead.

COLORFUL FROCKS

LOVE – Sofia Vergara in a form-fitting gray-purple lace Monique Lhuillier gown paired with a Jenny Packham clutch and Chopard diamonds to the Directors Guild of America Awards. The fit is beautiful on her, as is the color. I think she looks retro-glam with a modern twist.

LIKE – Kate Walsh in a fitted red sheath dres paired with nude sandals and scarlet lips to the debut of her unisex fragrance in NYC. I love the bold color on her and think the dress fits well and is professional/classy.

HATE – Diane Kruger in an off-the-shoulder, pale pink dress with buttoned front bodice, black drop-waist bow and paired it with a black clutch and matching peep-toe pumps to an AIDS charity gala. To me this is a bad-80’s flashback kind of dress.

VICTORIA’S SECRET – SEXY OR SLUTTY?

LOVE – (SEXY) Alessandra Ambrosio in a sexy, cream silk mini-dress, accented with black lace trip and a belt paired with strappy sandals and metallic clutch to Sao Paulo Fashion Week. I think this is sexy, but not in a overt, in-your-face kind of way.

HATE – (SLUTTY) Gisele Bundchen in a cap-sleeved body-hugging red mini-dress paired with black sling-back peep-toe pumps and an embellished bag to Sao Paulo Fashion Week. Maybe it’s just the angle and the lighting, but the dress seems cheap, and paired with patent pumps and fake tan legs, make it look “slutty” in my opinion… Sorry!

The LOVE, LIKE and HATE of Whitney Port

LOVE– Whitney Port in a vintage paillette-sprinkled Thierry Mugler short-sleeved mini-dress (from Decades) paired with a silver clutch and nude peep-toe pumps to the People SytleWatch ‘A Night of Red Carpet Style’ party in LA. I love the cascading circles, and the colors really work with her skin-tone.

LIKE – Whitney Port in a mirrored tunic, patterned blazer and blue-gray tights and lace-up shoes while promoting her style guide, True Whit, in Toronto. She’s always been a style risk taker, and although most couldn’t pull this look off, I think she does.

HATE – Whitney Port in a colorful color-blocked dress paired with an orange blazer and patterned accents, nude tights and black calf-boots to her book (True Whit) signing event in NYC. I don’t mind the dress (although the color combo is dull) but then paired with the pattern accenting the bright blazer just doesn’t work for me.

WHITE DRESSES

LOVE – Julianne Hough in a white, cap-sleeved key-hole Pamella Roland mini-dress paired with nude peep toe pumps to the unveiling of her Got Milk? Ad campaign in NYC. I love this neckline on her; it’s pretty and sexy at the same time!

LIKE – Hilary Swank in a breezy white wrap dress and flat sandals while going to lunch with a friend in Brentwood, CA. The dress looks effortless, so I wish she spent the extra time on her make-up!

HATE – Emily Blunt in a long-sleeve white Andrew Gn dress with laser cut accents paired with black tights and platforms to the premiere of Gnomeo and Juliet in London. Although I like her new lighter hair, this dress seems too big, yet too short for the actress.

ROCKIN' MINIS

LOVE – Demi Moore in a nude strapless bustier mini-dress paired with deep champagne peep-toe pumps and slick straight hair to the Sao Paolo Fashion Week. I love the fit and the texture of the dress, and her simple, straightforward accessories, hair and make-up.

LOVE – Jennifer Lopez in a silver sequined mini skirt with a nude blouse and towering platforms for a Venus promo event in NYC. Legs of a Venus Goddess? I think so.

LOVE – Rachel Bilson in a gray ruffled Burberry mini-dress with black leather trim and shiny Mary Jane shoes to the Waiting for Forever premiere in LA. I think it’s a sweet dress with a bit of an edge.

WHAT THE HECK?

HATE – Anne Hathaway in a cropped striped knit sweater paired with ruffle-edge polka dot capri pants (both from Marni) with brown wedges and a statement necklace to the press day for Rio in LA. This just doesn’t make sense to me together at all, and the pants are ill-fitting and just plain awful.

HATE – Leighton Meester in a orange patterned Proenza Schouler dress with black sheer overlay and Brian Atwood pumps while celebrating her Nylon magazine cover in NYC. I think this looks like a Halloween outfit.

STYLE MAVEN of the WEEK – JENNIFER LAWRENCE

LOVE – Jennifer Lawrence in a one-shoulder white Prabal Gurung whit stuble ruching up the side for an asymmetrical hem accessorized with dark platforms, a golden clutch and sparkling jewels to the Directors Guild of America Awards. I think this dress accentuates her small waist and gorgeous curves perfectly!

LOVE – Jennifer Lawrence in a silky, center-ruched, body-skimming LBD paired with a multi-chain necklance and intricate sandals to promote her movie Winter’s Bone on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I love her hair and make-up, as well as her necklace choice; I think it’s young and fresh. I also think the dress is flattering on her.

I am interested in having a senior prom dress similar to the dress by Monique Lhuillier that Sofia Vergara wore to the 63de Directors Guild awards. This is a beautiful dress and it will be amazing to have such a dress. Where can I get a pattern similar to this dress?
