Addictee: Fashion Police 1/6/11
Heyyyyy! This is my Fashion Police, week in review 1/6/11. Every Thursday I'm going to click my way through www.people.com 'Last Night's Look: Hit or Miss?' and tell you what I like and what I didn't. (And check out the special People's Choice Fashion Police, with the list of the winners, here.)
NEW YEARS STYLE
LOVE – Jennifer Lopez in a high-shine gold ombre Herve Leger bandage dress with matching metallic peep-toe shoes. I think the dress fits her like a dream, and the shoes are to die for, plus I like the chunky bangles. The only thing I’d change would be the too-monochromatic make-up.
LIKE – Ellen Pompeo in a sexy black suit (no shirt needed!) and blunt new bangs to Jay-Z and Coldplay New Year’s Concert in Las Vegas. I think the jacket is super hot, but wish we got to see a more sleek leg, and side swept bangs.
HATE – Rihanna in a horizontal red and mesh stripes dress paired with black pointy-toe heels and a statement necklace while hosting the New Year’s bash at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas. The varying widths of the stripes and the mesh fabric just doesn’t do anything good for the singer.
STUDDED
LOVE – Kim Kardashian in an oversized studded tee with baggy cargo pants and comfy boots for a laid back look in LA. I’m basically in love with the off-the-shoulder tee-shirt she’s wearing, and she looks casual cute with the pairing of black uggs and dark cargos.
LIKE – Vanessa Hudgens in a hippie chic oversized Heartloom cardigan (stud buttons), layered necklaces, distressed jeans and black boots while out in LA. I really like the casual look of this, she does hippie chic really well.
HATE – Jessica Simpson in black studded boots, fuzzy layers, a hippie-chic headband with her oversized leopard bag while traveling. I think this look is too much of everything.
OUT AND ABOUT
LOVE – Jessica Alba in patterned yellow tunic dress and black accessories (oversized black cardigan, black scarf, black tights, black bag and black riding boots!) while shopping at Target in LA. I want the dress, and I also love that she went ‘au natural’!
LIKE – Mila Kunis in a cozy black cowl-neck sweater, ripped jeans and black flat boots paired with oversized shades and an over-the-shoulder bag while running errands in LA. It’s simple and chic, and she looks great!
HATE – Nicky Hilton in a black petticoat over a black sweater and black tights (as pants), paired with buckled boats, a Chanel bag and striped wool hat while shopping in LA. Tights are NOT pants. Enough said.
DRESSED TO THE 9s
LOVE – Paula Abdul in a strapless and pleated body-hugging black silk cocktail dress and matching black platform stilettos for an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman in NYC to promote her new show Live to Dance. I think she looks great in this!
LIKE – Sophia Bush in a plunging neckline white and silver Pamella Roland mini-dress with strappy Jimmy Choo sandals to the CoverGirl’s anniversary celebration in West Hollywood, CA. I really like the unique neckline and cap-sleeve of this dress.
HATE – Keri Hilson in a plunging white gown with sequins and feathers and paired it with dazzling diamond accessories and a retro blonde bob and tons of make-up for a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman. Maybe it worked on stage?
WINTER BLUES?! CHECK OUT THE BIKINIS
LOVE – Elisabetta Canalis in a mismatched string bikini (gold top, black bottoms) with a white light-weight jacket heading to catch some rays with boyfriend George Clooney in Mexico. I would kill to look that good in a 2-piece and no make-up.
LIKE – LeAnn Rimes in a red bikini and a white cardigan while walking with her now fiancé Eddie Cibrian in Cabo San Lucas Mexico. Those work-outs she’s been doing are really paying off (her abs look amazing! AND so do her alledged new boobs!), but she’d get the bruise!?
HATE – Rihanna in a black cat one piece (We Are Handsome), mesh cardigan and a patterned bandana while on the beaches of her home country, Barbados. For me the suit looks too small, and the face seems childish to me.
STYLE MAVEN of the WEEK – Reese Witherspoon
LOVE – Reese Witherspoon in a wool cap, aviators, charcoal pea coat, basic denim and cognac knee-high boots while visiting friends in Santa Monica, CA. I think the whole outfit works well together, and is something anyone could copy and pull off.
LOVE – Reese Witherspoon in an all black ensemble, including sexy black suede boots, but with a pop of bold raspberry color in her scarf while out shopping in Beverly Hills. I love the pop of color, and the actress is glowing!
LOVE - Reese Witherspoon in faded skinny jeans, cropped jacked, statement teal scarf, pointy-toed kitten heels and oversized shades while in LA. I love her use of bold colored scarfs, and the jeans fit her like a dream!
